“ Brand: Hi Life „
Some of you may know our family cat Thomas had cancer and a couple of weeks ago he stopped eating. Of course we were all desperate for him to eat so early one morning I emptied Duke and Daisy's cupboard into a bag and did a run around the supermarkets grabbing anything I could find that might tempt him. One thing I found and was really hopeful he would like was this new range from Hi Life. The pouch cost me something like 79p from Sainsburys for 80g. The food contains chicken with ham which I thought may tempt him because ham isnt something you find very often in a cat food so it may be seen by Thomas as a special food. Also, it was in a sauce and Thomas loves really wet food that has a lot of gravy. So after a quick squeeze of the pouch and discovering that it felt like it had a lot of sauce I got him 3 pouches along with a number of other choices.
My Mum really wasnt holding out much hope of Thomas eating this and I think on the surface neither was I. However there was that tiny glimmer of hope in the back of my mind praying that he would eat something.
Opening the pouch the food had quite a strong chicken smell to it along with the ham. We poured it out onto a plate for him as we thought he might find it easier than his bowl. The chicken was shredded and there was a good amount of ham throughout the food.
We called Thomas and plonked the plate down in front of him and waited with baited breath...he started licking at the sauce which was an achievement in itself as he hadnt touched anything for a couple of days. He then tried to eat some of the chicken and the ham. We really were overjoyed and although he didnt manage much it was enough to give us our hope back.
Over the next few days we alternated Thomas' food to ensure he didnt get bored and this did remain popular with him for a couple of days but then he lost interest. However this wasnt the foods fault, he has always been quite picky with his food and he was at least taking in some of the sauce half the times he was offered it.
The food is one of the better quality supermarket brands. It contains human grade meat and no artificial additives. Information regarding ingredients and feeding guidelines given from Hi Life are:

We were so pleased Thomas ate some of this food we would have paid 10x the price asked. However, for an everyday food it is very expensive and is around 1.5x the price of other premium brand pouches such as James Wellbeloved. It is a decent enough food though and I would be more than happy to feed it to Duke and Daisy though it would be as a treat because of the price - for a 200g tin of Grau which is a premium grain free cat food I pay around £1.30 so Hi Life is expensive but Thomas enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it.
Sadly, Thomas' time with us came to an end on the Friday just gone but he enjoyed this food and I do feel that it made his final days just a tiny bit better for him.
