NutriCat Adult Chicken
Advantages: Cats seem to love it, it's good for them and vets approve of it as well.
Disadvantages: A little more expensive than the usual cat food I buy.
As a 'BzzAgent' I am occasionally sent items to test and keep in return of an honest consumer opinion of the product. The most recent of these products being Nutricat cat food.
Nutricat is described as being 'veterinarian approved advanced feline nutrition'. The idea is that you can now buy healthy, specialised cat food with your weekly shop rather than having to make a separate journey to your local vets or pet store. The cat food is available in Tesco stores and is relatively affordable. A little 50G pack costs 50p, a 400G bag costs £2 and a 1Kg costs £6. Obviously many cheaper cat foods are available. Nutricat, however, offers much more than these other brands and I do feel it offers good value for money.
If you do your shopping online at Tesco.com, you can also get £1 off a bag of Nutricat by entering the discount code GRPFNC.
The food contains all the vitamins, minerals, proteins and antioxidants to keep our feline friends fit, healthy and in peak condition. This food is also free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives (it appears it's not just us humans who should avoid such things)! The food apparently draws upon over 40 years of research to ensure it contains all of our cat's nutritional needs and gets a big thumbs up from vets.
There are a number of different types of Nutricat food to cater for different needs prompting the slogan 'a pack for every cat'. There's Nutricat Indoor, Kitten, Sensitive, Mature, Light and, the subject of this review, Adult. Nutricat adult comes in two flavours, chicken and salmon. My cats have so far only tried chicken flavour.
So, what does Nutricat Adult do for you cat? According to the packaging this food contains 'a unique blend of antioxidants to support the immune system', has 'balanced mineral levels to assist urinary tract health' and also contains 'proteins to maintain muscular and skeletal health'. In theory, this food sounds very good indeed! But what did the cats make of it?
I have four wonderful cats. None of them are particularly fussy eaters however they all refuse to eat dry food unless mixed with meat for some reason so I wasn't sure how well this would go down with them given Nutricat is only available in dry food form. All four of them seemed to love this though and were happily eating the biscuits with no meat mixed in whatsoever. The biscuits are small and circular meaning my cats have no trouble eating this food and as soon as I open the packet up and they smell it they all come running into the kitchen for their healthy meal. Like with most biscuits, the smell to a human nose isn't particularly strong thus my kitchen doesn't stink for a couple of hours a day while the cats are eating their food (the smell of some cat food meat turns my stomach so I'm very thankful for this).
With my sample packets of this food I was given a coupon for a free 1Kg bag which I took a special trip to Tesco to get after seeing how much my cats enjoyed this cat food and I think it's safe to say I shall continue to buy this food for them at full price. When I'm buying food for myself I have no problem spending a little extra to make sure I'm eating food which is good for me, I don't see any reason why this should differ when feeding my cats!
Summary: Great cat food, worth that little bit extra in my opinion.
