“ Brand: Ultima „
Ever since I have my kitten Myrtle (now about 8 months old) food has been a major issue coming between us. She never did like kitten food which worried me alot and then I had to feed her adult cat food (with vet advice) but even then I needed her on dried cat food cos she was suddenly gaining too much weight and the vet advised me against wet cat food as it can be contributed to cats becoming diabetic apparently and I never wanted that!
As I say though dried food has never thrilled her and to this day I still buy it when I see it, measure out a days worth and ignore her whinging at me for her meaty food and this one I bought recently in a B & M store and it cost me a pound which I thought was great for such as well known cat food.
The food comes in a metallic green pack which is silver foil inside and it has a zipper to the top of it and on the front of it there is a photograph of a lovely grey cat on there and we are told that it is Ultima Affinity 'Ultimate Nutrition For Ultimate Health', Adult 'Rich In Chicken & Rice' and that it is meant to help give firm muscles, healthy skin and coat and its good for good digestion and that it is 350g in weight and that in a pouch this size it gives an average of 14 meals then on the back of the bag other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, ingredients and nutritional information is given along with a feeding guide and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Nice packaging and I like the zipper to the top of it which helps of course to keep the food fresher for longer.
The Food Itself:
Well of course this is a dried cat food and the kibbles (biscuits) are dark brown and slightly powdery to the touch and it has a cereal sort of smell to it really. The feeding advice on the back of the pouch is clear and my cat is a medium size (4-6kg) and I weigh out about 50g of the food though she eats no where need that in a day even if this is all she is given including a handful of treats throughout the day but I do measure out the maximum amount of this she should be given as for a cat Myrtles size she can have as little as this as 50g anyway which is probably more like it for her.
It sounds crunchy and she actually seems to rather like it. She doesn't gobble it up say like a meaty gravy or jelly based dinner but she does nibble it and drink more than usual and I tend to divide it into 3-4 meals a day for her instead of leaving it down and it losing its freshness and to get her to eat it because left down she just took it for granted and moaned and whinged at me till she got offered something else, I've stuck firm and some days its this or nothing and that attitude adopted by me has worked and she seems pleased now to get her dinner so that's a result!
It is said to be flavoured with chicken, I of course don't know if it is but like I say she likes this and I am happy knowing it is enriched with vitamins and minerals and is a healthy food for her and I do think her coat is looking very glossy at the moment too so we're both happy with this one I am happy to report and so far so good!
I give this a big thumbs up and I will be happy to buy this time and time again in the future to just give her some healthy eating days!
Available from all good pet stores and discount stores like B & M's and the likes.
