Advantages: It doesnt upset my cats tummy
Disadvantages: The bottle is too large for just 1 cat
Every Christmas we always do our two cats a stocking each, they have a proper stocking which we then fill with treats and some of their favourite things. This year in one of the stockings we bought a bottle of Whiskas Cat Milk, we had never tried giving them cat milk so we were unsure what they would think of it so we only bought one bottle for them to share.
Packaging
The Whiskas Cat Milk comes in a curved white plastic bottle which has a plastic label wrapped around the whole thing, the majority of the label is a creamy white colour and has a large purple circle in the centre of it this has a picture of the Whiskas cat in the centre of it above the Whiskas logo and name. Right at the top of the bottle is the words cat milk written in blue with a couple of facts about the milk written just underneath. The back and the sides of the bottle contains product information all written in purple, this includes facts about the milk, feeding instructions, composition, analytical constituents and additives, the information is detailed and to the point. The bottle has a purple plastic screw lid on top of it and when you first open the bottle there is a foil covered of the bottle opening ensuring its freshness.
The Milk
When I poured a small amount of the Whiskas Cat Milk onto a plate it looked very similar to regular milk, it had a slightly creamier colour to it compared to regular milk, however it was of the same consistency and to be honest smelt very similar too.
This particular milk is made with significantly less lactose in it compared to milk that we drink, it has been developed by top nutritionalists and vets so that it contains less than 0.2% lactose. Whilst the Whiskas Cat Milk contains less lactose is also contains calcium and vitamins so that it is full of goodness for your cat. Whiskas Cat Milk is a complementary cat food designed to be given along side their regular food and is suitable for cats and kittens from 6 weeks old.
Feeding Guidelines
This information appears on the back of the bottle and states that there are above 4 servings of milk in each bottle, once the bottle has been opened it should be kept in the fridge and used within 4 days, you should always shake well before each use. The feeding guidelines do not give you exact amounts to give your cat but obviously roughly one quarter is a serving. Personally after using the bottle of milk I would say that there are more than 4 servings per bottle, a quarter of the bottle when poured onto a plate or into a bowl is quite a lot for one cat and I found that Layla and Daisy didn't manage this amount in one go meaning I got more servings out of a bottle.
Composition
The Whiskas Cat Milk is made up of milk and milk derivatives, also derivatives of vegetable origin and various sugars. This section is separate to the ingredients which gives you the ingredients of the milk individually, this section just gives you an idea of what components make up the cat milk.
Price and Availability
We purchased our 200ml bottle of Whiskas Cat Milk from Tesco and it cost just 99p which personally I think is good value for money. You can also buy this product in a pack of 3 for £2.32 in Tesco, however we bought just one bottle in case our girls didn't like it. This product is also available from various other supermarkets as well as most pet shops, the price from what I have seen is roughly the same in other shops but it can vary a little depending on where you purchase it from.
My Opinion
As I have mentioned when we first purchased the bottle of Whiskas Cat Milk we were unsure as to whether Layla and Daisy would like it as anyone with a cat knows how fussy they can be.
When we first gave them the milk our eldest cat Daisy wasn't too keen on it but the younger one Layla loved it and drank the lot. I was pleased that one of them liked it, however my only criticism is that a bottle is quite a lot for one cat to drink within 4 days, personally I think that there are more than 4 servings in each bottle and we did actually end up wasting a little bit of it as Layla did not quite manage the whole bottle within the 4 days.
Overall I was pleased with the cat milk, it meant Layla could have a treat and have a drink of milk without having to think about whether regular milk was going upset her tummy. The product is reasonably priced and you do get a lot for your money. I can give this to my cat and know that it is good for her, so personally I would recommend this product and would definitely buy it again in the future.
