I’ve previously reviewed two other Caudalie serums and it’s fair to say I wasn’t exactly knocked out by either of them. I know people rave about this French company but I’ve had more bad than good from them. However, with several more products in my box of goodies, I’m not ready to give up on them completely just yet. I bought several sets of small product samples of their ranges through the website ‘latestinbeauty’ and have found the tiny little tubes are ideal for popping into my wash bag when I’m travelling for work.
The SOS Thirst Quenching Serum should be ideal for my slightly dry skin as I like indulgent and highly moisturising products. I also appreciate that this is much better value than the Vinoperfect product I reviewed recently. The SOS sells for 29 GBP for a 30 ml bottle compared to the Vinoperfect at 45 for the same size.
The SOS comes out of the tube with a lot of control so I’m able to use very tiny blobs and the serum spreads astonishingly well. The cliché ‘a little goes a long way’ is one that I over-use in my beauty reviews but it’s very true with this product. It gives an instant cooling feeling on the skin, soaks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling refreshed without being sticky or tacky to the touch.
Looking to the ingredient list, I’m happy to see that it includes a small amount of hyaluronic acid since this is one of my ‘look for’ ingredients in skin care products and I find it very effective.
My sample tubes were very small and I only got a few days use out of them but I really rather liked this product and would buy it if I were to find it available on a good offer.
Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum
I received this sample in a glossy box a while ago and I used it for about one month when I first received it, then I stopped using it to test another serum but I have recently gone back to this serum and I love it - I have now finished the 10ml bottle.
- Product description (from feelunique.co.uk)
"Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum is a highly hydrating serum, ideal for extremely dehydrated skin and is suitable for all skin types. Upon application, your skin is instantly moisturised, supple and soft with a bouncy feel. Deeply resourced and soothed, your skin's well-being remains for longer."
- About the product
I have a sample bottle/tube of this product but the full size comes in a glass bottle with a pump which would be great, in my opinion. I have the 10ml size and it has lasted me a really surprisingly long time, as a little bit goes a long way. The serum does not contain parabens, animal derived ingredients, sodium laureth sulphate or any nasty ingredients.
- Using the product and results
What is a serum? A serum is a skincare product that is used after cleansing and before your moisturiser. This serum is a thin white liquid that has a really silky smooth texture and it does have a scent - this serum smells like fresh cucumbers, very fresh and nice to use. I usually don't like scented skincare product but this scent is really nice and it is subtle too - also this product doesn't irritate my skin at all. The silky smooth nature of this product makes it really nice/easy to apply - I use a small amount and it does not take much product to cover the face in a very thin layer. As I apply this serum it smoothes over the skin so effortlessly making my skin feel silky smooth, soft and almost filled in/resurfaced. The serum sinks in as I am applying this product so there is no waiting around for the serum to sink in before you apply moisturiser. I really like the scent, texture and application of this serum; it makes me want to use the serum more. Once applied the product makes my skin feel very smooth, soft, even and hydrated to an extent although I do have to apply my moisturiser after the serum. Overall, I feel like this serum really makes a difference to the way my skin feels - it almost fills in the unevenness in my skin and it makes it smooth and soft.
- Price and availability
This serum can be bought from various stores online such as feelunique.com (ships worldwide for free!) where this serum is currently priced at £26.10. This product can also be found on salonskincare.co.uk, lookfantastic.com, john lewis, amazon and other online sites. This serum is quite expensive but in my opinion it is worth the money - although a cheap alternative is the Boots botanics ultra calm skin relief serum - it is not a dupe but it is similar.

Until a few months ago, I hadn't heard of the Caudalie brand. My sister had purchased a few of their products and had been given a 10ml tube of this serum and another sample as a free gift. Knowing how dehydrated my skin gets, little sister was given the tube and accepted happily - I have the best big sister in the world!
Anyway, despite using a day and night cream each day, sometimes my skin feels very dehydrated and requires an additional step in my skincare regime. My skin is a nightmare - one day it is dry, other days it is oily. I find the weather and stress seems to effect how bad it actually is. It isn't convenient for me to apply a nourishing face mask daily so this type of serum is perfect to give a much needed hydration boost to my skin.
~A Drink For Dehydrated Skin?~
This serum performs very well. Whenever my skin looks dried out and generally lacking moisturise, I use this. I find it too intensive for twice daily use so tend to use it when needed which is usually once or twice a week. If you do not use an intensive day cream, you could get away with using this daily but I do not like having too many products on my face all the time.
The serum itself is quite rich and almost creamy in texture when it is first dispensed. It is important to only dispense a tiny amount as it spreads incredibly well. The first time I used this serum, I dispensed too much and some went to waste. Once I start to massage this across freshly cleansed skin, it turns to a light weight, oily texture which feels cool and refreshing on my skin. It sinks in quickly but does leave a slight oily texture on the surface of my skin for a while. This disappears when I apply a moisturiser over the top.
Each time I use this serum, I can feel the instant hydrating effects. My skin drinks it up - every last drop and my skin feels refreshed deep down. This serum surges through the layers of skin, soaking each layer with its intensive goodness. My skin feels nourished and simply brilliant. If I am having a day at home, I sometimes apply a thin layer of this serum as a mask and allow it to work its magic. Most of the time though, I apply my day cream over the top and have always been impressed with the additional hydration that this serum offers. My skin really benefits from this serum and my skin appears dewy and feels comfortable. Hydration is restored and I can go back to using my regular products until the next time my skin decides to become unbalanced!
This serum doesn't clog my pores up or feel too heavy on my skin. It is very gentle and I have not experienced any irritation from using it (I have sensitive skin). Another impressive aspect of this serum is the scent. It is gorgeous which makes it a treat to apply. It reminds me of a tropical fruit ice lolly though I cannot quite place it! The scent is light, refreshing and doesn't overpower.
I find this serum perfect for a quick 'pick me up' for my skin. I like to use it as a mask and this suits my skin well. If I use it too often, I find it leaves my face a little oily rather than hydrated. It does restore balance and I can imagine this being perfect for injecting much needed hydrating during the Winter months. My 10ml tube has lasted well with occasional use but if you would be using this daily, you would get around 4 months from one full size bottle. I prefer the smaller size as I don't feel I could use it all within 9 months.
If you are looking for a rich serum then this is perfect. It is even more perfect that it is packed full of natural ingredients. It is expensive but it is worth it in my opinion and I am glad I have had the opportunity to try it out.
Thanks for reading :)
This is a review of Caudalie Vinosource SOS thirst quenching Serum which I received in a beauty box recently. I was pleased to receive this product as I am generally a fan of skin serums, i find they usually suit my skin as they are light and a little bit of product goes a long way.
The serum is recommended as a product that should be used underneath a moisturiser but as a busy mum, I tend to use either or! I find a pea sized blob an adequate amount to cover my whole face and neck and it sinks in really quickly, leaving a perfect base to apply make up on top of.
The soft hyaluronic acid plumps the skin and locks moisture in, while grape polyphenols provide antioxidant protection. This versatile Caudalie serum can be used as an emergency treatment for dehydrated skin, as a daily hydrator for skin that is regularly dry, or underneath your usual treatment to ensure that your skin never lacks moisture. It can also be mixed with a touch of foundation to give a dewy and natural look to the skin.

A 30ml tube costs £29 and you can buy this direct from the Caudalie website. This was my first experience using Caudalie skincare and it was a positive one. I believe their range is very popular and whilst it seems quite expensive, it is economical to use as it goes a long way. The site is currently offering a free travel kit for purchases of £40 or more.
The newly launched serum is extremely natural and plant-based, ensuring your skin never lacks moisture.
I have enjoyed using my sample of this product which was 10ml and lasted a fortnight of regular use. My skin reacted positively towards the serum and I had no problems with break outs or any other skin issues whilst using it. I like the idea of using it with a foundation to give the skin a soft coverage but I usually use mineral make up so didn't try the serum in this way, after all, I only had 10ml to play with!
I loved using this product and am really pleased that I got to try it. Would I repurchase? At the moment that is a luxury I can't really afford and I have a boat load of other face moisturisers to work my way through. In the future this would definitely be on the long list for a great moisture treatment for my skin. I would particularly like to take a tube of this away with me on my next holiday abroad as I feel it would really pump in the moisture to sun exposed skin.
