This is a review of a shower gel I recently bought having been impressed by a fragrance sample from the same Caudalie line, I purchased a full sized fragrance in a gift set which came with a 100ml bottle of gel douche (shower gel but it's a French brand!). If you wish, you can read my raving review on the fragrance if you scroll through my recent reviews. The fragrance is limited edition though so I can't say how long this shower gel will remain available but at the moment it is widely sold online although harder to find in the shops.
The shower gel came in a gift box with the fragrance which was lovely, a big clear window in the front with the shower gel nestled in its own place. The actual tube is plastic, yellow in colour with a flip top lid so you can squeeze out the product. It has white writing on it with the Caudalie logo and advertises the 'Zeste de Vigne' fragrance.
First of all I warned my husband off this shower gel as I am primarily a bather rather than a shower-er it was in the shower cubicle for a few weeks but he was told that it's far too good and girly for you to use. He's a good man and given the information, will act accordingly! I am careful to use only a mean amount each time I shower using this as I am aware it is an expensive product. The fragrance of the shower gel is true to the Zeste de vigne EDT I have but not at all strong or particularly long lasting. Perhaps I was too tight with my shower gel to make it go far enough but I didn't find that I felt like I had had a proper clean with it as I do with my cheaper shower gels.
A 200ml bottle retails on Amazon for £8.95 (+ £4.60 P&P!) but my bottle was 100m and came in a gift set with 50ml edt for £29.50 which I was happy to pay primarily for the fragrance plus I got a free sample of Caudalie toner too for spending over a certain amount at the Look Fantastic website.
I have loved all the products I have tried from the Caudalie brand so far but sadly, I was really disappointed with this shower gel. I only used it when I was going to wear the perfume and whilst I loved the smell as it was true to the fragrance, I just felt that it was not strong enough, even when lathered up using a shower puff. I love the citrusy smell but feel you could get better results from a much, much cheaper bottle of Original Source shower gel and at least you know you aren't washing 75p down the drain every time you use it!
I am pleased I got to try the shower gel but now I know it's just not worth it, and whilst you feel you are getting good value with the gift set having two products in it, the shower gel is just not up to the standard I would expect. I want to use it to get clean and step out of the shower smelling of the lovely 'Zeste de vigne' citrusy fragrance which I just didn't feel happened when I used this. I won't bother buying this again in the future but will continue to enjoy wearing the fragrance.
