roktimdutta Sony CDP XE370: ... CDP-XE370 to my mind is a completer CD player. The aesthetics is almost perfect, excellent audio quality. In fact if you keep in mind the price factor it can very well compete with a Marantz or a Denon. The mechanism is faultless, noiseless a very smooth. The only thing that has left me grumbling is the non-inclusion of a head phone jack and a remote; I have to rely on the amplifier. It sports a very solid look...

davey_26 Sony CDP XE370
... have always had a very solid reputation for producing solid hi fi i.e.rarely spectacular but certainly tick all the boxes you would ask for in hi fi. Thankfully this does very little to harm this reputation, the build quality is excellent and certainly is built to last, it is very sturdy and does not look cheap in the slightest. However cds are becoming something of a relic due to the fact that digital music stored on the computer does not allow for a potentially much better sound quality courtesy of the many impressive external dac s now on the market. Having said that though, for those whose primary need is the convenience of immediately playing their favourite m...

pcspinheiro Marantz CD 5001S
... about one year ago to replace a Marantz universal player. It actually came in a pack together with a PM4001 amplifier that I sold back on ebay, so it ended up costing less than £100. It is currently connected to a Marantz PM6002 amplifier using standard (but shielded) cables. The sound is very good, a small improvement over the already good universal player but still well worth the money; the midange clearly gained clarity and the highs were less harsh. It has many features that I never really used; I just put in the CDs and press play so can t really comment! Only thing that annoys me is that pressing stop once will force you to start the disc from the beginning i...

hotrock4 Pioneer PD-F958
... leads or the jack lead intended for headphones. Looks good as part of a stack system, and allows you to program all your cd titles in unless the album has cd text in which case you get the name of each indivdual track scroll across the screen as they play. Not the newest cd player out there but given the still brilliant sound quality, ease of use and installation, good functional layout on both remote and player, and good speed when flicking between your cds probably still amoung the best. I would most definately say your paying for quality and not just the name with Pioneer. I have had this CD Player for near on 6 years now and have not had a single problem with it....
