hazzeryoda NAD C 520: ... Digital to Analogue conversion with a coaxial output. Though there is no headphone socket (not really a drawback!) and no programming option. If you have a casual £500 burning a hole in your pocket, this CD Player will be best suited with the superb Rotel RA-931MKII (£180) and the pounding KEF Cresta II speakers (150) which will guarantee an amzing listen for anyone that'll last for many many years. An e...

andycharger Sony CDP-XE 400
... bought this to match all of our other Sony separates and complete the system as we all ready had the Home entertainment Amp/tuner, Tape deck and Video. The whole system looks real nice because it all matches with its black finish. Most modern systems are made in shiny chrome/aluminium finish which I find looks a bit naff. The black looks lore defined. The system is a single CD tray froont loading system that can play random tracks, repeat and obviously lets me tape tracks to put in my Car. It fas all of the functionality of a normal CD player and comes with the build quality and sound quality that you would expect from a Sony product. It has a digital display tha...

Sony CDP-XE 330
... Sony '330 CD is almost at the bottom of the pile for their CD decks (basically, it's a '220 with a supplied remote control included. The '330 is a very basic machine and if you are serious about hi-fi, I'd spend a few quid more on some of the higher spec machines which have more controlable features, other than the basic "open drawer, put CD in and then play it". One single optical output as well as the standard phono outs make this piece of kit very basic but being a Sony, the sound quality is decent but the casing is a little bit too big (it must use the same chassis as the '530 and others) as the buttons and other controls lo...

mrfunkyman Philips CDR 951
... was first a bit apprehensive about buying a Hi-Fi separate CD burner, I've had a PC unit for a while, and been brilliant, its good for backing up stuff, as well as copying CDs. Anyway I had about £400 to spend on a new CD player and saw the Philips CDR-951. After having a Technics SLPG 590 CD player for a while, this seemed like a step down. But I couldn't have been more wrong it’s fantastic. Just push a button for a direct copy, it also works on various formats even HDCD. Not only is the recording quality of the highest standard but the playback isn't as good as my old Technics. The range of sound is stunning. It has good overall reproduction, but exc...
