Marantz CD 5001S ... about one year ago to replace a Marantz universal player. It actually came in a pack together with a PM4001 amplifier that I sold back on ebay, so it ended up costing less than £100. It is currently connected to a Marantz PM6002 amplifier using standard (but shielded) cables. The sound is very good, a small improvement over the already good universal player but still well worth the money; the midange clearly gained clarity and the highs were less harsh. It has many features that I never really used; I just put in the CDs and press play so can t really comment! Sony CDP XE370 ... Sony CDP XE370 is a real joy to use. It comes to no wonder how this amazing product does not come anywhere to sight when reading gadget magazines such as Stuff and T3. Whilst CD s are becoming ever extinct, it comes as no suprise that barely anyone has heard of this product, but whilst the Sony CDP XE370 is still working with todays technology, i have to give this a meaningful, detailed and fair review. The Sony CDP XE370 is in a great design, coloured black so that it can fit just in with your car/ motor vehicle. There is the Jog Dial track search that helps with navigation around this musical device, which helps searches through your favorite tracks and speeding you... Bryston BCD-1 ... CD player is the first one to come out of Bryston s range. The company is better known for its built-like-a-tank amplifiers, but the BCD-1 proves that it can make an exibition of itself, given careful system-matching. I listened tothis machine when it waspartnered with the BP26 preamp and the SST4 power amp from the same stable. Play it kate bush s "aerial" for example and the brightness tends to make an exibition of itself, so connect it with an interconnect that has a slightly softer tyreble than most and this machine will breathe a new lease of life into your music collection.
