Sykes1981 Philips CDR 775: ... picked up the Philips CDR 775 a few months ago on an ebay auction, at just £50! i admit I was taking a bit of a chance on whether it would work 100% and left hoping that I would be able to use it for what I intended, which was transfering tapes and vinyl to cd. The recorder is fitted with two separate cd drives, left hand side is a CDR recorder, the right hand side is a CD Player. It’s a wide bit of gear, 435mm w...

... is time to wave a fond farewell to the audio tape recorder.New technology has caught up with the world of home taping. Welcome to the Philips CDR570.A sleek, robust and compact portable cdr, that's compact disc recorder to you and I,and this baby does everything! At first glance you think "how am I ever going to fathom this out".The manuel is huge. It's only after you realise that the instructions are printed in various languages that the tension eases, not for long though. There are so many leads, you feel like an Italian ploughing into his dinner...spaghetti everywhere! Finally,it all comes together, you flick the switch, action. Now at...

Philips CDC 775
... is Phillips' entry-level player, and a thoroughly typical member of the species - a statement with positive and negative connotations. The player uses Phillips technology straight out of the bottom drawer, centred on a MASH 1-bit processor and digital servo. On the plus side are its good finish and a smooth (if slow) transport action. The feature set is limited, but has its highlights. Auto Cue sets the player in pause mode at the start of each track, and Peak Search looks for the highest levels on a disc. The dot matrix display is bold and attractive, but no more informative than usual. The simplicity is echoed around the back, which is home to a pair of ana...

... was first a bit apprehensive about buying a Hi-Fi separate CD burner, I've had a PC unit for a while, and been brilliant, its good for backing up stuff, as well as copying CDs. Anyway I had about £400 to spend on a new CD player and saw the Philips CDR-951. After having a Technics SLPG 590 CD player for a while, this seemed like a step down. But I couldn't have been more wrong it’s fantastic. Just push a button for a direct copy, it also works on various formats even HDCD. Not only is the recording quality of the highest standard but the playback isn't as good as my old Technics. The range of sound is stunning. It has good overall reproduction, but exc...
