We wanted to invest in a decent DAB radio after our old one broke, and at the same time realised how old and clunky our big old CD player was, so we set out to look for something modern and compact combining the two. After some research online we eventually chose the Roberts Blutune 60, as it had good reviews and Roberts was a brand we associated with high quality. We bought it for £180 on Amazon (though it's currently showing for £173).
When it arrived a few days later the first thing we were really pleased with is how it looks. It is a very sleek modern black design and looks great. It is very compact so doesn't take up very much space, so although we have it in the living room it would also be great for use in the kitchen or bedroom. It has a digital display screen on the front in the middle, just below which is the slot to feed the CDs in, with a speaker on either side. The control buttons are on the top. The system is definitely small enough to move from room to room when you want to, but as it doesn't actually have a handle (I guess this would detract from the sleek design) you do have to be careful. So if you're looking for ultimate portability this might not be the best choice for you.
It is very easy to use. I'm not overly technically savvy but even I didn't need to read the instructions and just started using it straightaway.
The next thing we loved was the remote control. Measuring a tiny 1 inch x 3 inches and very slim it is very compact! I love this as I hate having too many clunky remotes cluttering up the place.
In terms of features, as you'd expect the Blutune60 can play CDs and has a DAB/DAB+/FM radio. We've found the sound quality on both to be excellent, much better than our old stereo. Crisp and clear. It can also remember up to 20 of your favourite radio stations. For those who like gadgets it also has bluetooth connectivity so you can stream music wirelessly from your smartphone or laptop (though I can't comment on this as I haven't tried this function out).
If you're wanting to use it as an alarm clock it also has an alarm function and also has a headphone socket (ideal for us when the toddler or baby are napping).
Overall, whilst it's not the cheapest option on the market by any means it is a quality product that delivers great sound, modern features and sleek design. We've been really pleased with it and haven't had any problems.
