I bought this for £130 as an ex-display model from Richer Sounds in June 2002.

This was something of an impulse buy, but thankfully it is not one that I regret! I had set my heart on a Marantz CDR to match my Marantz amplifier and tuner, but at £300 it was just too pricey!

Many people use the CDR drive in their PC to copy CDs these days, but having a hi-fi unit like this is much more convenient.

The unit is well built, and I feel it offers excellent value for money. It looks a bit cheap and tacky next to my Marantz separates, but for the price, this is forgivable.

When recording CDs, setting the tracks (i.e. when one finishes and the next starts) can be fiddly. With this model, if you have an optical lead to connect your CD player to your CDR, then there is a handy "automatic" feature where you just press one button and you can copy a whole CD, with the tracks set automatically.

Without the optical lead, the machine will automatically start a new track when it detects a 2 second silence, but this is not much use when copying, say, a continuous mix CD!

In summary, I recommend this CD recorder. It does its job very well, and offers excellent value for money.

It's worth noting that Richer Sounds also sell Traxdata blank CDRs and CDRWs. These are ridiculously good value, and seem to be of reasonable quality.
