... bought this drive to upgrade on a TEAC W254E that gives good performance and reliablity, being attracted by the better speeds offered. The installation was no problem initially but although the performance was promising, the drive caused frequent system crashes and hangs, refusing to eject discs unless rebooted. HP Surestore CD-Writer Plus 9150i ... recently picked one of these CD Writers up for my home computer. After using a friend`s Writer for some time, I decided to purchase my own. They are a really great idea. I use mine to make compilations of my music from my MP3`s. You can also use them to copy your original software to make back ups, NOT for illegally pirating games you understand. When choosing one for use at home, I decided to opt for a brand name writer because I have heard bad things about cheaper writers. Hewlett Packard were recommended to my by both the shop staff and friends as well as hearing about them before. My Writer reads data from the CD at 32 times speed. This Is quite quick compared... Liteon LTR 12101B ... bought this to replace my old Hewlett Packard and its the best decision Ive made in ages.Ive backed up PSX games at 12X the speed ( on unbranded disks) and they play great on an old PSX with a broken lazer!! Can use all different software, not just nero that you get with it. Currently using Easy CD 5.0 Platinum with direct CD. The only software I had problems with was CDRWin 4.0 but I managed to get round that as I needed that to burn images to CD`s. Burnproof too! A Relative has got a Ricoh Drive and he struggles to burn a PSX and music at its full speed (with some disks) but I`ve had this drive for about a month now and not encountered any problems. Yamaha CRW 2100E ... owned the Yamaha drive for about a year now and its been faultless. I bought it because of the price and specification, not the brand. I?ve never had a Yamaha computer product before and have been pleased at the quality, reliability and speed of the component. The drive is a 16x write, 10x re-write and 40x read CD-RW drive. Unlike some higher speed drives, it will reliably write at 16x for the majority of the burn cycle. As the other reviewer notes, the drive is a little on the noisy side. Part of the noise comes from the mountings; if you screw the drive in well, the noise disappears. The second problem with noise comes from some brands of CD-R. I?ve found th...
