... bought this as a gift for my girlfriend, she has an HP laptop. I am a techie and I have much experience with installing things like this. The initial install was problematic, after installing the drivers, the 8230 and the internal laptop cd stopped working. HP tech support tried to get it working but I ended up re-installing Win 2000. HP Surestore CD-Writer Plus 9150i ... recently picked one of these CD Writers up for my home computer. After using a friend`s Writer for some time, I decided to purchase my own. They are a really great idea. I use mine to make compilations of my music from my MP3`s. You can also use them to copy your original software to make back ups, NOT for illegally pirating games you understand. When choosing one for use at home, I decided to opt for a brand name writer because I have heard bad things about cheaper writers. HP Surestore CD-Writer Plus 9150i ... some of my friends, I am not a computer expert. I've certainly never had the courage to open up my computer and fiddle about inside. However, when I read opinions on dooyoo telling me that this writer came with straightforward instructions for inserting it in the machine, I thought I'd impress my savvy mates by showing them by doing something technological for myself. The HP instructions are indeed, superb. The writer comes with a video showing you exactly what you need to do, as well as a set of paper instructions to refer to as you do the job. I finally picked this one up from Dixons who were selling it as an end of line product reduced to £89.99 with 10% off making total price £80.99.
