... compared to the already existing 16 Speed existing drive I have. There are quicker drives around but I dont think it matters too much. Writing speed is only 8 speed. This is quite slow compared to others on the market but my main drive is only 16 speed anyway so copying is restricted by that anyway. It cant copy quicker than 16 speed if the other drive cant read quicker than 16. Also, I have an older computer with Windows 98. It is a Pentium 2 and its a 233. It does not have the performance of a modern computer so the...more

HP Surestore CD-Writer Plus 9150i: Great drive, giveaway price (178 words)

I received this drive as a gift though i believe the price paid was around £109+vat. I have plenty of experience in the installation and setup of computer hardware and software and have had many frustrating experiences with parts missing in the past. Intsallation was very easy. This will depend upon your system but i had my drive fitted, the software installed and i was burning my first cd all in the space of about 45 minutes. If you are a first time user of this media then you will appreciate the simple to use software HP includes. However, more experienced buyers and professionals may find it so basic it is insulting. That said, it was ...  Read the complete review

The 'HP 9150i' is an internal Cd-Writer from Hewlett Packard. It specifications are 8x 4x 32x. For those who do not understand this sort of thing that all means that if creating a CD using a write-once CD it has the capability of 'burning' the data onto the disc at 8 times its normal speed. Therefore an 8 minute song would be burnt onto the CD in 1 minute. 4x means that a CD which has the capability of being used like a video cassette (can be recorded over and over) will record at four times standard speed once it has been written on the first time. 32x is the speed of the CD drive, most stand alone CD drives will be operating at this speed or higher now.  Read the complete review

HP Surestore CD-Writer Plus 9150i: Great drive, although software is a bit basic (216 words)

I bought this drive for ATS2990 (EUR217.32) in Vienna and have been very pleased with it to date. Having installed a lot of hardware in machines before, I have no problems installing hardware, but the diagnostic software supplied will inform those without experience as to what they need to set jumper switches to etc and how to connect it all. Additionally there is a video (on CD Rom) of how exactly to install the drive in step by step detail, as well as information factsheets to make this a very easy peripheral to install. Sadly the software provision was a bit on the basic side, as the software shipped is an entry level programme, written by HP, whereas other ...  Read the complete review

Unlike some of my friends, I am not a computer expert. I've certainly never had the courage to open up my computer and fiddle about inside. However, when I read opinions on dooyoo telling me that this writer came with straightforward instructions for inserting it in the machine, I thought I'd impress my savvy mates by showing them by doing something technological for myself. The HP instructions are indeed, superb. The writer comes with a video showing you exactly what you need to do, as well as a set of paper instructions to refer to as you do the job. In all, it took me about 30 minutes to get the thing up and running, and I was mightily impressed ...  Read the complete review

This CDRW'er is simplicity itself to install. The instructions come in 18 different languages in two manuals, installation s/ware is on 2 CD’s, one shows an installation video and then actually prints out the recommended jumper settings for your set-up! The other contains Hp’s Music-Match jukebox plus a CD Labeller (for CD & jewel-case). You also get a very large folded “story board” sheet detailing in words & graphics, how to install the HP CD-Writer Plus 9150i. The CD writing s/ware is an easy point & click operation with plenty of 'Go-back' options for those of a nervous disposition. This is an ideal buy for anybody requiring a ...  Read the complete review
