Advantages: Fast, reliable and decent software

Disadvantages: None for me

I went to PC World and they had an offer on (this was just after Christmas). This was down to £119.99. It is a 4rw x 8w x 32r CD-RW bundled with some really natty software including CD Direct and MyCD plus CD Labler II. I had looked on sites like DABS, etc. and some writers were cheaper, but I am a little fussy and wanted a name that I knew!

I had been after a decent CD-RW for ages but had always been put off by the price and whether I would use it a lot or not. As time goes on I have noticed the drop in price of CD-RWs which is great for the consumer. You don't need to have the latest hardware to achieve excellent results.

The kit comes with an internal IDE CD-RW drive, CDs with the software and installation package on, instructions and a blank CD-R for you to play with. Nothing extravagant but ample for my needs.

Firstly you run the installation disk which tells you how to install the drive into your PC and what to do next. It is a video on-line and is simple to follow. Afterwards click on the Install option and just follow the prompts.

So - I installed my drive and let Windows find it for me. The installation CD runs again - as before follow the instructions. It will complete the set-up for you.

Within half an hour my CD-RW was up and running with no problems. However - if you are a novice, get someone you know who knows about PCs to help - you will at least feel more at ease!

The software is great that comes with it. Again a very easy wizard approach. I have made some data CDs, formatted a CD-RW disc and made my first music CD. In addition, I used Rave Ejay and copied on of my creations to CD and it plays very happily on the Hi-Fi downstairs!

Great CD-RW, great supporting software and excellent installation guides. You will not be disappointed and it is fast enough for most peoples needs! The current price on DABS by the way is £111.62 which is excellent for such quality :)
