I bought this Cd writer / rewriter a few months ago, and i am glad to say that it has really served me well. Not only does it burn CD's relatively quickly (taking a maximum of about a quarter of an hour on anything) but also its a DVD player. Before buying this, I had a simple floppy drive and CD-Rom drive. With this upgrade to my computer, I have opened up many new possiblities for myself. The Nero software accompanying the machine was perfect for everything I needed and as a musician who records into mp3s for use on the internet, I was happy by the easy drag and drop interface by which I could convert these mp3 files into an audio CD. ... Ricoh were the first to produce a combo drive. The MP9060A has been around for a few months now, but still holds up well under test. The single drive takes CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs and DVDs, all in the same tray mechanism. It comes bundled with the excellent Nero 4.0 CD-R burning software from Ahead and the same companies inCD packet writing utility. Without packet writing, you can't drag and drop from a CD-RW disc but, with it, you can treat the disc as a rather large (arond 650Mb) floppy drive. It takes about 18 minutes to format a blank CD-RW disc on a 4 speed rewriter the first time you do it. After that it's just a few seconds for a re-format. I copied a ... Read the complete review

This writer is very, very good. When I first got it, I was well chuffed in buying the writer. For starters it wrote at a reasonable six speed and it could also rewrite, and plus it can read DVDs. Now that was an added bonus. The writer can copy virtually anything. It is also supported by a very large range of softwares. It also came with Nero Burning ROM which is a very good CD copying and writing program. Mp3 CDs work very well with it also. I would recommend this to a first time buyer of a cd writer and rewriter. ... Read the complete review

I have been very impressed with the Ricoh 9060A - especially since it also has DVD thrown in. The downside was that there was no DVD software - and I had to pay extra to download Power DVD from the internet! The strange thing is that a friend in the USA got exactly the same kit - the same week - but she DID have the DVD software on her disk !! She also had Easy CD Creator and not Nero as I did. Easy CD is better in my opinion. I mailed Ricoh about the missing software and all they did was suggest DVD software to BUY! Rather cheeky I thought ! Had the system not performed so well I might have been tempted to return the 9060A to Insight (the ... Read the complete review
