Advantages: Disks much cheaper than zip disks, handy to be able to record CD's for keeping in car glove box, holds MUCH more data than a floppy

Disadvantages: not portable like a zip drive

I am happy with my CD-RW now, but it took weeks of fiddling and several return trips to the store where I bought it to get it working properly. The helpful sales assistant at Comet actually installed it for me, then swapped the software disk as it wasn't working properly, eventually swapped the CD-RW itself as it was still behaving erratically. Eventually he told me he'd give me a refund as it still wouldn't record audio and would only copy data occasionally.

All was sorted out in next to no time when I rang the manufacturer in despair. The helpline person told me that a batch of these CD-RW's had been sent out with the wrong software CD's and that the update needed could be downloaded from the internet. This 'fixed it' immediately. Anyway, if you buy one and have similar problems, try this solution first!!! (I bought mine in April this year, so there could well be others still around).

I would also comment that you cannot reliably record audio faster than 4x speed with this machine.
