The drives provide enhanced prevention of buffer underrun with large memory buffer, double that of earlier models. They also incorporate features that ensure reliable recording onto a wide range of media, such as Running Optimum Power Calibration (ROPC) to ensure that optimum laser output power is adjusted for each disc, and an Optimum Write Speed Control function.
