      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Super bandsaw which copes with thicker hardwood as well as soft.

This is an excellent saw, and although not as powerful and universal as the industrial ones (which I covet) this is a reliable and versatile workhorse. Of course being made by DeWalt you know you are getting good quality.

It is possible to grab a bandsaw of similar design for just over £100 and I also have one of those. But the cheaper saws do struggle with any wood thicker than about 6mm despite using good quality blades. So this beast manages to cut the oak and chestnut with no issues.

I have managed to cut through greenwood and 1.5" thick seasoned hardwood using this saw.

Bandsaws are great for DIY and crafting. You can use them for cutting skirting, planks, or for furniture making. I use mine for Luthiery.

I tend to run mine on the high speed setting unless I am cutting out scrolls or lots of curves.
I use the best quality blade that I can afford. My advice would be to research blades and teeth per inch etc to get the best from your saw.

This requires a bit of setting up and fine tuning to get it to cut true.

The bottom guides are a little fiddly to access but nothing that cannot be done with a bit of patience.
there are lots of videos on YouTube which guide you through the optimum set up for a bandsaw and it is well worth researching this before you cut an expensive piece of timber or else your cut will be on the wonk and you will swear a lot ( bitter experience!)

I use a range of blades from 1/4" to 3/4 " with no problems but it pays to buy the best quality blades you can afford.

The saw has an alloy table which is perfectly stable and sturdy.

All in all this is an excellent saw although somewhat pricy compared to others of a similar design. I still think it better than the cheaper ones available though and having used a fair few, this is up there in my favourites, only superceded by a Hegner (well a girl can dream)
