      Very helpful

      worth its weight in gold for me.

      The Mafell KSP55F 55mm Portable Circular saw & guide. This is not a cheap bit of kit at around £390 it is out of the range of your average D.I.Yer and more for professional use.
      I am a joiner by trade and bought this saw mainly for cutting sheet materials and door fitting because of the guide rail system it came with. This rail feature really does work brilliantly, just mark a line on the surface you want to cut put the guide on the line ( I find I don't have to clamp it down In most cases as it has rubber on the base to prevent slipping) drop your saw onto the guide and cut, it is that easy.

      The saw has an excellent plunging facility so you can start your cut anywhere along the guide (I find this handy when cutting glazing apertures in panel doors).

      It is also very neat and light weight giving you confidence when using it one handed.
      It comes with clamps for the guide rail and an excellent storage box (one you can actually get the tool back in without needing to work for NASA). It is very powerful although I bought it for accuracy so I use my larger Bosch saw for heavier work.

      The guide rail comes with tow small but strong clamps that lock under your work piece and don't get in the way, the saw runs in a grove on the rail making it really easy to cut perfectly straight line every time.

      Altering a door with the guide rail now takes no time in comparison and you can even use it on the long edge by simply sliding the guide rail along when the saw gets to the end of it. It is great for dropping in on floor boards etc for making square cuts and as long as you avoid the nails etc it is very safe as you can set the depth so accurately.

      I make a bit of furniture and find for squaring up sheet materials and wide boards it saves lots of time and the cut on end grain is really good requiring little sanding. Also when cutting with the rail at 90 degrees it cuts so tight to the rail you get very little splintering.

      I really would not be without this saw now I have had one, and would recommend the guide rail system to anyone who has not tried it yet.

      It is to expensive for those if you only need a saw once in a while but if like me you are in the trade it is something you will find yourself using more and more. Also mine is a 110 volt tool and requires a transformer to lower the voltage for working safely on site.

      * Cutting depth: 0 - 55mm (0 - 23/16 in.)

      An expensive tool but if you do a lot of joinery it is worth its weight in gold.
