Just got this for my small home workshop. Straight out of the box it felt and looked like a quality buy.Have bought Record power tools before and they are always good quality. I thought I might have some difficulty setting it up as you need to do some building of the bandsaw as it is only partially done to allow for easy packaging.
The instructions were very easy to understand. The machine is heavier than expected but it is because of the high build quality. My first cuts were on softwood 45mm deep and they were perfect. I was surprised how quiet the machine is.It is a perfect compliment to my workshop and I cant wait to use it for the many jobs coming up.
Well done Record Power for producing a very well made and excellant value for money Bandsaw.Great band saw, and a very handy set up DVD enclosed, you must take your time and set everything as perfect as possible, very important that it is bolted down well, and the correct bench height set (not to high is critical).
The machine itself is very solid, built from quite heavy gauge steel and has a quality "feel." The motor is very smooth and surprisingly quiet, I would be happy to use this late at night without fear of annoying the neighbours. I would recommend the optional leg set if you don't have a solid bench to mount it on though as it does weigh quite a lot.
I thought I would give it a "proper" test with the first cut and re-sawed a 4 1/2" piece of cherry. It handled the cut comfortably with no signs of protest from the motor, though the end result was a little rougher than I would have liked and it will need quite a bit of cleaning up with a plane. I wouldn't be happy making precision cuts on this as I don't think it would produce acceptable results, but anything that you are happy to have a couple of millimetres leeway will be fine. happy with the saw itself.
The Record Power BS250 benchtop bandsaw is a compact machine designed for those with limited space but require top level performance.
