After reading a review on here some time ago it reminded me of how much I love this drink! It proper reminds me of Christmas, as when I was younger (I'm talking aged 13 or so,not 5!) and used to go round my aunt's in Bristol where most my family live, I was allowed some of this after my Christmas dinner as a treat. As a a nostalgic treat we stocked some up a few weeks ago, and I enjoy having a bottle of this whilst wrapping christmas pressies in the evening when madam has gone to bed!
- Packaging -
It comes in small green glass bottles and the top is similar to those on a beer bottle that need to be removed with a bottle opener and flicked off. If you're strong you can open it with your hand but I daren't to do so! The bottles have a label on and is rather green in all over with the traditional reindeer design on it. Even more Christmassy suggestion here! The bottles we bought were 200ml and come in a pack of 4 and I think we paid about £3 for this multipack in our local cornershop.
- The Drink -
Babycham is quite a feminine drink in that its a refreshing sparkling perry. It's quite sweet and is subtly fizzy like an alcopop so it's rather easy to down as a casual evening beverage. Although it's an alcoholic drink, it is only 6% ABV so for me it's like drinking lemonade as it really has no effect on me! I tend to drink it out of the bottle with a straw as I am quite lazy, but when younger I used to drink it out of a proper champagne glass to feel nice and grown up! I think consuming it this way is a lovely eloquent way and it gives it a nice edge and makes it feel much more expensive and tasteful than what it actually is.
- Overall -
I really like this drink and I think similarly to Snowball, its a lovely refreshing alcopop type drink but with a little bit more class. It's lovely this time of year as a warm festive treat to lift your spirits a bit and you won't be falling over on the floor out of all inebriated! It's cheap and cheerful, tastes nice, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone stocking up on some christmas beverages this year.
Summary: lovely alcoholic drink for the festive period :)
