A perry that is popular at Christmas as an alternative to wine.

THE FLAVOUR

Babycham is very sweet and tastes like cheaper wine.  It has got a nice taste and it is lighter than most white wines, I like how bubbly it is and how the sweet fruity taste lingers in my mouth after I have drunk it.  It is too sweet for a lot of people.  My husband does not like it and says to me when I drink it that it is bland but I do not agree with this.

WHAT I THINK

I have liked Babycham for a long time and I always drink some over Christmas even if I do not drink it at any time over the rest of the year.  It is very cheap to buy but does not taste like a cheap drink like Lambrini does.  There is 6% alcohol in Babycham but it does not taste that strong to me, I would say it is a fun drink because the bubbles get you a little bit giggly and tipsy without making you feel tired like some perrys do.

I like that Babycham is so easy to drink and the small 20cl bottles makes sure that every glass you drink has got the same fresh taste. The bubbles do not go flat either even if you keep the perry in your glass for a while before you drink it, I like that because I think it indicates quality even though Babycham is not thought of as a high quality drink.

Because it is so sweet I think Babycham is quite sickly so I do not drink very much at a time, not enough to get drunk or have a hangover the next morning.  It is a drink that can make you have a headache if you start drinking it and then switch to soft drinks so you should be wary of this if you are having just one or two in the pub if you are the designated driver.  It is also quite gassy and that made me feel a bit ill on Christmas Eve when I drank Babycham on top of a heavy meal of rich foods.

I like Babycham though and think it is a nice drink when you want to have a change from wine.  There is even clothing and shoes that you can buy now that have the Babycham fawn on them because the brand is a bit of a retro classic now.
