My friend recently celebrated a special birthday and although I got her quite a few presents, I also wanted to get her a nice bottle of bubbly to enjoy. I was browsing the shelves of Asda and the Martini Sparkling Rose caught my eye.
About the drink
The drink is described as being soft and medium dry. It is sparkling and pink in colour which makes it perfect for us girls and it has been created using the Prosecco, Brachetto and Moscato grapes from the northern regions of Italy. It promises you the delicious taste of red berries and summer fruits and to give you a peppery and citrus ending taste. This is combined with the aroma of lovely roses, violets and fruity raspberries. It is described as being the perfect summery drink and although the weather is anything but summery at the moment, I decided it would still be a lovely treat for my friend. It can consumed alone or as part of a cocktail. The drink has an alcohol percentage of 8%. As this drink contains alcohol is shouldn't be consumed by anyone under the age of 18 and it should be consumed responsibly.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a heavy glass bottle through which you can see the lovely pink bubbly inside. On the front is a rose gold sticker telling you the name of the product and a little bit of basic information is given about the product on the back. The rose gold foil covered the cork at the top and a bit of metal needs to be twisted in order to remove the cork which is always a fun job to do. The price suprised me when you consider how pretty the drinks looks and that it has been created by a good brand. Mine only cost me around £10. It will be available from most supermarkets, off licenses and a variety of online websites.
We opened this last weekend for my friends birthday. The cork comes out with a bang and we did it outside to stop anything from being damaged and just in case any of the bubbly stuff over flowed. It has quite a lot of bubbles in the drink. We poured it into our best champagne glasses and the pink colour looks really pretty in the glasses. We even put in some strawberries to make it look extra special. The drink smells fruity and sweet just as promised. When you drink the bubbly, you can feel the bubbles in your mouth which is a nice experience. You can detect the alcohol and a slight acidy taste but the primary taste is one of fruitiness and sweetness.
This isn't a particularly strong drink but it goes down easily so I mixed my next one with some lemonade. This time the alcohol was harder to detect and I drank it even more quickly. My friend and I shared the whole bottle between us and we were a little bit merry by the end of it. It is sickly and it didn't make me feel queasy at all. I agree with the fact that this drink would be lovely for the summer because of the smell, taste and colour but we would be waiting a long time in this country as we never see the sun! I didn't have a hangover, headache or feel sick the next day which is good going for me as alcohol is not my best friend. My friend gave this drink pretty much the same verdict as me.
All in all, this is an expensive looking bottle of bubbly which is perfect for sharing with the girls. It is pretty and pink, smells and tastes fruity, and tastes lovely with strawberries and lemonade. It is easy to drink and although you can detect the alcohol, the overriding taste is one of sweetness and fruitiness. I will definitely be buying this one again.
Salmon pink with a bouquet of good intensity and elegance that holds scents of flowers and fruits, like rose, wild strawberry and raspberry with a touch of black pepper. In the mouth, soft and semi-sweet with hints of fresh strawberry and orange zest. Very easy to drink, fruity, quite soft, well balanced.
