      Premium Drinking

Veuve Cliquot was founded in 1772, by Madam Cliquot she dispatched bottles of this champagne all over the world, buying the best vineyards, perfecting champagne and giving this drink the quality that it has today. The motto of this house is 'only one quality, the finest' and right it is as this label is renowned for being one of the more expensive and classic champagne brands. It has an air of prestige about it and when I was deciding between this or Tattinger, I opted for Veuve Cliquot due to the description of the taste and felt for me this one was right and I'm glad I did.

Veuve Cliquot is made from the Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grape varieties. Before opening this champagne, I kept it in the fridge to chill for a while to make sure it was at that lovely crisp but cool temperature. Once ready to open, the champagne was easy to open and serve, right away the faint hint of fruity hints and it is described on the label as being a balance of fruit and toasty notes. The description continues to say that it has initial fruity flavours of white fruits and raisins which then develop into notes of brioche and vanilla with age.

The description seemed perfect to me and upon sipping this it really is very crisp, it is so easy to drink and I could pick up on the hint of fruit but with a subtlety that I enjoyed. It wasn't too dry and was very smooth which I liked, it also wasn't too sweet and seemed to have that perfect balance. As silly as it sounds from drinking prosecco and other sparkling drinks, I could definitely taste the difference with this and it did feel a lot more special and had that quality taste. I found this went down too easily and from a full bottle I managed to get 5 full flutes of this out of it which was great.

I really would happily recommend Veuve Cliquot to any fan of bubbles, it has a quality and premium taste and I couldn't fault it at all. Other champagnes like Lanson can be quite dry but with this it didn't seem like that at all as it was so smooth and easy to drink. It wasn't overpowering and was lovely for a special occasion for a toast or even to drink in the evening after a long day or out in the sun. It is the perfect drink to make anyone feel special and I definitely want to buy it again as it is a reasonable price for the taste. It is usually discounted at certain times of the year.

Currently, you can buy this from Tesco where they are selling a 75cl bottle for £36.99 which seems to be the standard price for it which is still good.

        Would highly recommend

I first came across Veuve Clicquot when I won a competition at work where I won a 75cl bottle, a ice bucket and 4 champagne flutes(very lucky I know) due to been heavily pregnant at the time I waited till Christmas Day till I sampled my win, I must say it was certainly worth that wait!Nice packaging, easy to open with no big explosions .I found this didn't have the sour finish that most champagnes do, I felt it really had a nice feel in the mouth to it not too harsh. I liked this product this much that after sampling it that I brought a bottle the Christmas after and I definitely would say it was well worth the £30/£40 it cost, Would recommend this and would say it would be a great at parties and meals alike. Hoping I wake up to a bottle under the tree this year.
