Damski - smoked and good for melting
Member Name: dangaroo
Advantages: Stands above it's competitiors
Disadvantages: I prefer something with a stronger flavour
Generally speaking, I like French, English and Italian cheese but I do go out of my way to try as much cheese as possible, currently living in problem - I don't care much for the generally bland flavoured plasticky cheese with very little taste, though I have met the odd expat that prefers it to English cheese for it's meltable qualities. There are a few diamonds amongst the batch of rubbery cheeses, I wouldn't go as far as describing Damski like that but it is considerably better than the most common ones.
Damski is made in the north part of the country, the lake region known as Mazury, specifically in the town of Mragowo - a resort for the well-off but also a farming area, the cheese is semi-soft and is smoked over coals, this is one cheese that the rind is unbelievably tasty as it seems to hold the smokyness more than the cheese. The cheese itself is semi-soft and not a very strong flavour but a little bit sweet, the taste fuses well with the combo of the smokyness.
This one stands above it's competitors: Morski and Koldamer, just make sure you don't buy it from a huge supermarket chain or it will be completely tasteless.
