... the word "Seriously" and the phrase "It's all about the taste". Presumably this means that I couldn't bring out a competing cheese called Seriously Stronger or Seriously Crap without infringing copyright law. Well, I'll bear that in mind. Every 100g of this cheese will provide 410 calories, so rather than hack off great chunks of this, it's a good idea to use a grater or, as I do, a potato peeler to yield nice thin slivers. You can always make up the weight with a bit of pickle. One downside to...more

Cheese is one of my favourite indulgences and over the years I have tried out most of them. For an everyday versatile cheese, like hundreds of thousands of others around the country, we settle on cheddar and have a tendency to buy whatever is on offer at the time. There is intense competition in the hard cheese market in the UK - on cheddar in particular so there's always something of a bargain to be had. This was the case recently in Sainsbury's where I bought a 400g wrapped block for only £2. I never pay more than this. My preferred branded cheddar is Pilgrim, but this one comes close taste wise. This is a cheese that often turns up in our fridge. Any regular readers of my reviews will know I am a lover of cheese and therefore we get through quite a lot of it. The cheese can be found in all of the large supermarkets, we usually buy it when its on offer such as buy one get one free, otherwise it can be very expensive. It costs around £1.99 for 200g or £3.89 for 400g. You can also get it in a spreadable variety which is very nice. Seriously Strong cheddar is just that. This is by far one of the best mainstream mature cheddars available. It is very often on offer at the supermarket but if not it costs around £3.50 for 400g, which is quite expensive compared to other cheeses available but is well worth it. The taste of this cheese is amazing, and strong. So many mature cheddars aren't that strong but this one really is. It's one of those cheeses that will make the back of your teeth tingle (not in an unpleasant way). The taste is extremely cheesy but also quite creamy. For cheese sauces to make cauliflower cheese and similar items it's brilliant, ...  Read the complete review
