Advantages: Handy for taking to work, college or just to have in the fridge at home !
Well I have had Philadelphia Cheese for many years now and always resort back to the Extra Light when trying to shift a couple of extra pounds that have crept on overnight. So when I saw these Philadelphia Splendips I was really pleased as I love anything that means putting a dip on it!
Now this would have to be an occassional treat as even though the calories are not too bad, the sugar is a bit on the high side. Now forgetting about should I or shouldn't I, this was definitley a case of I should!!
Now the biggest problem was which one to choose, as they all looked very inviting, should it be;~
~~~Nachos & Tomato Chutney~~~
~~~Chive Crackers & Tomato Chutney~~~
~~~Rice Crackers & Sweet Chilli Dip~~~
~~~Poppadoms & Mango Chutney~~~
~~~Mediterrean Flatbreads & Chutney~~~
I went for the Poppadoms & Mango Chutney, now these look a lot like a tip-over yoghurt that you can buy, but a lot bigger. They are of an oval shape, with one side partioned off to hold the mini crackers, nachos or poppadoms. The other side is then split into two sections, one side holding the mango chutney and the other side holding the Mint & Cucumber Philadelphia light dip.
This is all presented in a white plastic tub, with a foil lid, that you will have to peel back before you can get dipping. There is a cardboard base stuck on the bottom of the tub that gives all the nutritional information ect...
I quite like the Dairylea Sticks that come with a cheesey dip, but there never seems to be enough cheese and I get left with a few sticks to eat dry, but this has ample dip and sauce.
The Poppadoms are tiny litte discs, that are very crunchy and fit into each of the sections quite nicely to be able to get a good dip on the cracker. The Mint and Cucumber Philadelphia Light Dip is the same texture as you would expect from any Philadelphia Soft Cheese. It has a lovely minty smell and the cucumber gives this dip a refreshing taste. This is nice as it is, but you then have got the extra yumminess of then putting on the Mango Chutney, which is very sweet, but never the less very tasty indeed. The whole experience of just sitting down and eating this Splendip is very nice indeed, as it is something that can't be rushed and should most definitely be enjoyed!!
Now the whole package weighs 76g, which doesn't sound a lot, but it is plenty for a midday snack, as it is so tasty it seems to last for ages when dipping on the Phili dip and chutney, as the two different textures marry well together.
This Poppadoms and Mango Chutney contains;
This also contains Milk, Wheat and may contain traces of Soya. This is to be kept in the fridge until eaten.
These can be found in most supermarkets and are around 97p to buy , but at the moment Morrisons are doing B.O.G.O.F.
Once again Kraft have come up with another winner in these Splendips and there is a nice varied choice to choose from. 5 Stars for a great product!
Summary: A really nice tasty snack for when you get a bit peckish!!
