Good for cooking, but not much else

I used this the other day in a recipe, so thought it would be good to review it as I have never used it before.

I bought about 150g and I think it cost about £1.60. It doesn't have a standard price, it just goes by weight, which I thought was quite good, as I only needed a small amount so didn't want to buy a huge block anyway.

This cheese is a swiss cheese and does have a few holes in it, not a huge amount though. It comes in a clear plastic wrapping and is a pale yellow colour.

The texture of this cheese is quite rubbery and soft, but it was easy enough to chop into smaller chunks, and grated very quickly.

I think the rubbery texture makes it good for cooking, I made a cheese and onion tart with it, and it came out fine, and the recipe only required 75g.

I did taste this cheese, a I was curious and I have to say that personally I didn't like it. It's not too strong so it was fine to use for cooking, but I would never eat it by itself. It has quite a sweet taste and was creamy, but I just didn't like it, it didn't have a great deal of flavour.

As this is a cheese it has a very high fat content, so I wouldn't recommend using it on a regular basis, but in the odd thing, I'm sure it's fine.

Good for cooking but wasn't impressed by the taste of it on it's own.
