Advantages: Made in Greece, great taste, great quality
Disadvantages: Some people may like it a bit stronger than this
I always use this cheese for salads and when cooking.
It is one of the sainburys basics range and costs £1.19 for 200g.
Greek Style Salad cheese is basically feta, so I use it for any recipe that uses feta cheese.
This cheese comes in a plastic packet, which you have to cut open, and like most feta's it does have some liquid in the packet, which I assume preserves it, but this particular brand does not have huge amount so I don't find it too annoying draining it.
The quality of this cheese is excellent. It is not as strong as other feta's it is listed as a mellow taste, but I really like that as it doesn't overpower things like salad. The taste is very creamy, but quite light.
It is a very crumbly cheese so it's very easy to use, and crumble over pasta or salads.
Even though it is in the basic range, it is still produced in Greece and still has all the qualities you would expect from feta. It is made from cows milk, so it has quite a high fat content but I'm not sure about calories as it doesn't say on the pack.
This is a great quality low cost feta, and I would really recommend it to everyone.
Summary: A great cheese.
