“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Cheese „
Tesco Value are usually good cheap products. I often buy Tesco Value Cheese Slices to put in sandwiches or to pop onto bread to make very quick cheese on toast - it saves having to grate or slice the stuff.
You get 10 slices for 59p and the slices aren't too thin or small. Peel back the wrapper and you are hit with the immediate smell of lovely cheese. The colour is good - a nice deep orange, just the way it should be and there are little flecks of gold coloured stuff in there too which I also personally like.
The texture is smooth and creamy I personally find, and it melts in my mouth. Yes, it does taste very mild, but then its supposed to, and this is what I love about this cheese. I also put it into cooked dishes such as a lasagne - handy strips between the lasagne sheets and it melts really well and makes a good cheese on toast.
It is salty and probably a bit high in fat but I don't mind this as it tastes so good.
Cheap product which tastes nice and is easy to get hold of. I think this is a very versatile and useful product and the little lad also enjoys just eating a slice on its own now and again.
I love cheese and find myself having to stop myself from eating straight from the block that I buy because it can be quite fattening, although I am not on a diet at the moment I do not want to find myself putting on any extra weight now I am of my mature years because I can gain weight more easily now that I am older.
I spotted these cheese slices recently and liked the look of them inside the packet. They come in a square, transparent plastic packet with a very basic plastic pull back top. It just has the usual colours of blue and red of the Value range from Tesco, nothing special. The cheese can be seen inside the packet and that is what attracted me to these slices because I could see the cheese looked very appetising.
The cheese is a mild cheddar and pale yellow in colour. The slices are a very good size and measure approximately 6 inches square. There are 10 slices in the packet and they are quite thick for the cheap price of just 59p. They are easy to take from the packet to place into bread for a sandwich or to place over a burger in a bun. They do not fall apart as I first imagined they would when I first bought them. I thought as soon as I began to take them from the packet they would crumble etc but they don't.
The cheese is a really nice texture too for the price and I think they are amazingly good value for the money in my opinion. They also taste delicious and do not taste at all bland as I thought them may. They feel while eating them and do not feel all fatty as some cheeses can tend to feel in the mouth. They are very easy to chew and swallow because of the soft texture. My little grandson absolutely loves cheese and always takes my hand and makes me go to the fridge to find his cheese because I buy him cheese all the time because of his cheese addiction. He is allowed to have cheese as a treat and these slices suit his taste buds very well.
They are fabulous and ideal for packed lunches and are so affordable if you have a lot of packed lunches to make up for work or school as it can be quite costly buying a filling for the sandwiches and these are just ideal for those occasions and for picnics and party sandwiches. It means also I do not have to slice them and can just take them from the packet and they are evenly sliced, unlike when I usually cut cheese and the thickness is an inch or so lol. Also it means I do not have to have a steady hand to cut my grandson's cheese for him to eat and it means he can chew it much better at the thickness of these slices. Just a perfect thickness for him to easy chew and swallow.
I made a Lasagne recently and I thought I would try the slices on the top instead of grating some Cheese in the normal way, I just place 6 of these on the top of the dish and just over lapped them and they worked a treat, the dish tasted lovely and the Cheese melted perfectly and saved me a lot of time grating the Cheese for the topping.
They keep well in the fridge and can be taken from the packet and wrapped in cling film if that is how you like to store your cheese in the fridge or just take each one straight from the packet, I tend to leave them in the packet because they do not really last that long in my fridge and they are perfectly fine left for a couple of days or so. I have found that they do not tend to dry when the pull back wrapper is placed back into place. They stay completely fresh.
Each slice contains 100 calories, 8.3g of fat, 5.5g saturates and 0.4g of salt.
The slices are not individually wrapped in a plastic wrapper as the other cheese slices in the value range. These ones are just stacked in a nice tidy pile. I bought more than one at the time I bought these and I have just placed them in my freezer as I always freeze cheese and found that these once taken from my freezer are very edible, although not as fresh as when eaten from my fridge. But they are perfectly fine to freeze.
The sell by date is good too and unopened the one I am using at the moment has a sell by date until the middle of May and so they can be bought and kept refrigerated for a couple of months or so, just perfect if you like to bulk buy for a month or so grocery shopping in my opinion.
I really do highly recommend these slices for anyone to give them a go as I do not think you would be disappointed at all, as I think they are well worth 59p and they are just amazingly good quality and excellent value for money and very affordable for any budget in my opinion. I will continue to buy these in the future.
I give these 5 stars.

Thank you for reading my review.
When we have burgers on the bbq I like making mine into a cheeseburger but I don't like them slimy processed cheese slices and can't be bothered slicing cheese off the block because my mum buys the massive blocks that are hard to hold and slice at the same time.
In Tesco I saw these ready sliced slices of cheese and they are proper nice and save me the trouble of slicing the cheese. It's mild cheddar and melts good on the bbq as long as you put the cheese on while it's still on the bbq grill but if you take the burger off the bbq and put the cheese on it then it won't melt that good so you're better off to give it some heat.
The slices of cheese are very dry and no good for a sandwich unless you are going to put loads of sauce or mayo on it as well. The top one always feels a bit dusty as well but that's the only thing that tells me it's such a proper cheap cheese.
It tastes nice but isn't creamy like the cheese we usually buy on the block and the slices break up a bit and crack when you pick them up if your not proper careful. It's a nice mild flavour and goes good with the hot burger because when it melts the flavour comes a bit stronger and the cheese goes a bit greasy instead of being so dry.
The pack of 10 slices was about £1.30 and because the slices are thick that's proper good value for money because cheese is getting dear now. I reckon it's loads better than processed cheese and even though it's not the best quality cheese it goes wicked on a burger and I reckon you could use it for making stuff like cheese and potato pie and stuff like that.
