Advantages: Good for lighweights

Disadvantages: The recline is hard on your wrist

This is a birth to 4 years car seat.

It is quite wide and bulky, with a large plastic base under the seat. However, I think this is the case for all the carseats for this age range.

It can be installed in the car facing forwards, or backwards. You are supposed to use it backwards for the first 9 months and then turn it forwards. We bought it because our daughter had outgrown her infant carseat but wasn't yet heavy enough to go in a forward-facing carseat (9kg). It is quite hard to fit rear-facing - it is quite wobbly, and quite difficult to get the child in and out because the car seatbelt cuts across the space that you need to put the child through. I definitely wouldn't use it for a smaller baby - it doesn't seem supportive enough.

It is quite easy to fit forward-facing - the instructions are all on the stickers on the seat and it is fairly straight-forward. You can get the seat fitted firmly in place.

The seat has a two dials at the front. One makes the sides of the seat move out or in, so you can adjust the width of the seat to fit your child. This is a nice feature, although as the child got older we found we mainly used it to make the seat really narrow when we had extra passengers. The other dial is to recline the seat. This dial is quite hard to turn - if I go from fully upright to fully reclined, with the child in the seat, it makes my arm ache! But I can do it while sitting in the front passenger seat, which is useful when the child falls asleep on a long journey.

The buckle seems easy to do up to me, because I am used to it. Howver there is obviously something very non-intuitive about it, as relatives and friends can never work it out.

The cover is supposed to be sponge-clean only but I've machine-washed ours and it was fine. The metal and plastic frame does have a lot of fiddly hard-to-get bits though - not fun if you have to clean vomit out of them ...

It is a good seat - on its third occupant now and wearing well.

Summary: A good seat
