Britax High Liner
I was on the lookout for a suitable seat for my grand-daughter to save swopping from car to car on the odd occasions I have her. So I kept an eye out on my local Freecycle and I was lucky to be chosen as the new owner of this seat. The seat is in lovely condition, helped by the removable washable cover, which is an essential attribute in my mind.
Marketed as suitable for children from ages 4 to 12 of 15-36kg, it was also a grandparents lightly used chair and their granddaughter outgrew it at 10 years. The seat is in lovely condition, helped by the removable washable cover, which is an essential attribute in my mind.
Installing the seat was simple it fits comfortably into place on the back seat of my Polo and is held nicely in place with the car's normal seat belt.
* Adjustable head support offering additional safety and comfort so the seat grows with the child
* Front facing high back booster seat
* Side impact protection
* Recline position giving optimum back support
* Slide out cup holders for drinks and snacks
* Weighs just 6.6Kg
The cover is well padded and offers great head protection and the high back ensures seat will last a long time and ensure comfortable sleeping if the child falls asleep. The side impact protection is an added bonus, but of course most cars have SIP too. The seat can be adjusted to ensure comfort and back support whatever size the child. Despite being shallow, there is room for a nifty pull out cup holder which is a nice touch. The seat sports two handy arm rests and the back recliner is operated via a system just below and behind these and is easy to manoeuvre and adjust when the child is not in the seat. The seatbelt guides ensure the seatbelt goes across the right parts of the body however you have set up the seat.
We Love it!
I was very lucky as the seat cover is navy blue with a lovely pink trim and polka dot pattern. My granddaughter has a similar seat at home but it is plain navy and she just loves the pink girly touches of this one. The cover removes for laundering and dries nice and quickly for refitting. The high back and padded head area is reassuring in the rear view mirror when I am driving her home, to see that she is comfortably asleep and doesn't have to suffer the stiff neck her mum did on longer journey's in an older style chair. There is room in the chair for her and a cuddly toy and she does love the pull out cup holder!
The plastics and foam are all in excellent condition and the seat does exactly what it should do. Provides comfortable safer travel for our little princess.
Price & Availability:
I notice they are well advertised on the WWW from Halfords, eBay and other outlets with eBay items starting at around £3.50 at the time of writing and new they are between £90 and £120 depending on the trim you choose.
I was very lucky to get this seat and would not hesitate to buy one now that I have tried one. Equally I do not hesitate to recommend the Britax High Liner to anyone else parent, grandparent etc who requires a booster seat for slightly bigger kids.
Various styles are available from safe black or navy to nifty race seat style for boy racing back seat drivers as well as Zebra Stripes, however, I did not spot our lovely polka dot version when I had a quick look on Halfords site and it would be a pity if the feminine option is no longer available to buy new?
Stars 5/5 for the seat and 5/5 for the lovely Pink Polka Dot Cover
Around six years ago now my boyfriend past his driving test, it was very exciting and we were quick to purchase a car. We also needed a car seat for our eldest daughter who was four at the time, our youngest was only a baby at the time and we already had a car seat for her which had come with her pram. To be honest, we did absolutely no shopping around, instead we headed to our local Halfords as we were in a bit of a rush to buy one.
We chose this Britax Hi - Liner, it was a long time ago so I forget how much it cost but I do remember it was on some sort of special offer at the time. Ours is exactly the same as the one pictured above except for the seat cover design, instead of the blue one like in Dooyoos picture we have a grey one with pink polka dots all over.
The Britax Hi - Liner is suitable for children from ages 4 to 12, it has been used by my daughter for a good six years and is still in a great condition so hopefully it will last for the next two years, after which time it will no longer be needed. The plastic is strong and durable and there are no visible scratches and marks on it. The seat is quite large and bulky in size and it is quite high too, saying that we easily managed to fit it in the car boot when it hasn't been needed.
Installing the seat is incredibly easy, it is pretty much just like a large booster seat. It simply needs to be placed on the chair and the cars seat belt is then just placed across it.
There is also a drink holder located on the right side, which can be slid in and out of the base although my daughter rarely uses it.
My daughter really loves the seat cover, it is very cute and a little girlie too. It is well padded especially around the head area, my daughter has never complained that it feels uncomfortable, even on long journeys. According to the care guide labels the covers are not machine washable or suitable for the tumble dryer. I have a 20 degree hand wash function on my washing machine which I use for for it, this works well enough at brightening the cover up when it starts to look a little dingy. Removing the covers is easy enough and takes just a few minutes.
We have been really happy with the Britax Hi - Liner car booster seat and feel it has served us well over the years, so I have no problems recommending it to others.
A quick look on the Halfords website shows me our particular Britax Hi - Liner pink polka dot design car seat is currently unavailable, however other designs are available, prices vary.
