I bought the Britax Kidfix car seat for my daughter who is 5. I bought it from Mothercare in the sale for £89.99 which I thought was pretty good. It comes in multiple colours and my daughter picked the Bella line. It is a blue seat but the sides of the headrest, the armrests and the base are a bright pink.
The Kidfix seat is designed to hold a childs weight of 15-36kg ( roughly 4-12 years) and is perfect for a growing child. The headrest is adjustable so as the child grows the seat can be adjusted and keep the comfort. The headrest is slightly set back so if the child falls asleep their head doesn't fall forward, it stays in place and is supported by the sides which are well padded and soft.
Isofit have a special system of keeping the car seat in place without using a setabelt to secure it. There is a metal bar which attaches onto the back of the car seat and also to fixed points behind the normal seat which hold a very secure connection. Once this is place then the car seat will be attached to it and the seat belt is only needed to strap the child in. If there is no child in the seat then the seatbelt is not needed as the seat is already secure. (Hope that makes sense- it is easier than i've made it sound!)
If fitted with the Isofit points then the seat is able to recline for more comfort when sleeping. This can't be done once the child is in the seat though, it must be done before.
If you don't want to have the Isofit points then the car seat can be attached with just a seat belt instead. The Kidfix also provides pointers for where the seatbelt should sit on the child, to ensure maximum comfort.
The cover is fully washable and the padding on the seat is so soft it really does make for a comfortable ride. There is also a drawer underneath the seat, handy for keeping paper and pens in.
I would recommend this seat, the fact that it will be useable for many years due to the adjusting features really does make it worth the money.
