      A great looking car seat!

I was looking for a car seat for my daughter last December when she became too big for her rear facing one. I knew I wanted an iso-fix car seat as I had no intention of removing it from my car and it was also important that the seat reclined. I looked around for a few weeks and then decided on the Britax Safefix TT as it was iso-fix but it didn't have the foot that some of them come with so it wouldn't take up all of the space in the back of my car. I chose the Cowmooflage version which cost £279.00 in Argos.

This car seat is a group 1 car seat so it is suitable for 9-18kg or ages 9 months to 4 years approx. The seat is rather heavy when it was delivered it weighs in at 12.5kg. The seat measures H 65cm, W 46cm and D 60cm. The seat felt very sturdy and solidly built.

      On the Britax website the seat is described as having the following key features;
ISOFIX system anchors the seat directly to the car's ISOFIX connection points
5-point safety harness with one pull adjustment
Top tether provides a third anchorage point, limiting the rotational movement of the seat
Pivot Link system reduces the child's forward movement within the seat
Side Impact Protection with deep, softly padded side wings
Indicators confirm that the ISOFIX hooks are engaged
ISOFIX arms retract to provide a secure installation and extend for ease of use
      Performance chest pads
Height adjustable headrest and harness easy single handed adjustment from the front
4 recline positions the seat adjusts without disturbing your child
Harness retainers make it easy to get your child in and out of the seat
Quick-remove cover without interferring with the harness
      Softly padded and washable cover
Ventilation channels in the back area to help air circulation

The seat came with a small instruction book which was easy to follow.

Before I installed the seat in the car I adjusted the harness and headrest to suit my daughter. The harness is linked to the headrest which can be pulled forward and the slid up and down to adjust the height of the harness. The length of the harness is adjusted in the same way as many other car seats using a metal button at the front which you simply depress by pulling the harness.

I then proceeded to fit the seat.

To start with you have to fit the plastic guides to the isofix points in the car to enable the seat to be guided in the correct position. The clips are easy to fit to the car they simply pop on and off. The instructions do tell you that if you frequently remove them then the plastic can get damaged. You can get replacement guides. Once the guides are in place you then need to release the isofix points from the seat. There is a button so that these can be replaced when the seat is not in use. Once the arms are fully extended you need to push the seat into the plastic guides while depressing two grey buttons either side of the seat. Once the seat has clicked into place correctly the grey indicators show a green colour to tell you the seat is in place. Once this step has been completed there is an orange button to depress that allows you to push the car seat firmly against the back of the seat. Once this step has been completed you need to secure the top tether. In the boot of my car there is a metal ring and I have seen it in a few other cars, the top tether is pulled over the rear headrest and clipped onto this hook into the boot. Once it is clipped you then need to pull the tether tightly until the indicator on the tether shows 1 inch of green. When the top tether is not in use it is stored in a little pouch at the back of the seat.

The seat was really easy to install, the instructions were straightforward to follow and there are indicators to help you.

Once the seat was installed we took it out on a test drive. My daughter immediately loved the seat. The cow print fabric is a premium option so it has a lovely velvet feel. The seat also has horns and ears so it looks like a cow too. My daughter has a separate car seat at my mums and I have noticed that she slumps forward if she falls asleep even if it is reclined. This seat has a very deep headrest for extra protection so I have noticed when she falls asleep even if it is upright she doesn't slump. The harnesses are padded so they are also very comfy and she hasn't complained when in the seat. The first time we used the seat my daughter fell asleep so I had a chance to try the reclining function. The seat is easy to recline you simply pull a lever at the front and it reclines 4 different levels. The seat clicks to confirm it is secure when reclined. This is easy to do without disturbing my daughter. I had read reviews on some car seats that said you needed to remove them to recline the seat. Another good point to the seat is when the harnesses are unclipped there are little slots each side to pop them into making it easier when you put the baby back in the seat. The harness also clips closed very easily and as of yet my daughter can't open it herself.

The seat cover is also very easy to remove it simply pulls off and can be washed at 30 degrees and dried on the line. I haven't had to wash the seat yet, it has had a few quick hoovers and it has been fine.

I have been using the seat daily for 4 months now and my daughter loves being in it. I have to admit that I chose it partically because I loved the design and I have had a few comments on how nice it looks. The seat can be removed following the installation steps in reverse. I haven't tried this yet as my intention was to leave it in my car permanently. It is a bit bulky to take from car to car.

All in all I am very happy with this car seat, it seems very safe and secure and I have the confidence that if we were to be in an accident she is in a safe car seat. I would recommend this car seat highly, it also comes in other colours such as red, blue and black. You can also buy different covers for the summer. The only downside is the price for me, it was a lot more than other seats in the shops.
