When my daughter was out of nappies and there was no longer a need to take a change bag out with me, no matter how well I planned long car journeys, I always seemed to forget something. This, along with the fact that the car always seemed to be a mess I decided to see if I could get a car tidy. I spotted a different brand in Boots whilst out shopping and the price was around £15, I though this was a little steep so when I got home, I did a little research on line and I came across this one at Amazon.
The recommended retail price of the car tidy is around £10; I managed to get for half this but with a delivery charge of a couple of pound. I have also spotted this at other online retailers such as Kiddicare and Babies R Us for around £8 (but again delivery charges may apply).
The car tidy itself is really quite big, it measures around 57cm x 41cm so it literally covers the whole of back of the seat. You attach it to the back of the passenger or the drivers seat by two big loops of Velcro, one which goes just below the headrest and the other to the base of the seat. The Velcro is quite thick and to separate needs a little bit of force which is good as it gives me confidence knowing that if Lauren pulled on it too hard, it won't come loose. What I like most about the car tidy is that it has four different sized pockets all of which are fastened at the top with a press stud. The pockets are really quite deep and I can easily fit a packets of baby wipes and some toys into both the large pockets and still have some space left.
Another great feature of the product is because it is made of quite thin material, it can be taken down and folded into quite a small square which takes up little storage space in the car and I am able to remove the car tidy in less than a minute. Although having said that, I have very rarely taken it off. The fabric is both waterproof and machine washable which is great as several times Lauren has tried to get things out of the tidy and ended up with half eaten biscuits on it. I also think it acts as a good seat protector, before I used this, I always ended up with muddy foot prints on the back of the seat which were a nightmare to clean off, if this happens on the car tidy, I just give is a wipe over with a baby wipe and it comes clean.
The car tidy is meant to be universal and will fit most cars, I have used in both a Vauxhall Zafira and a Ford Focus and found it fits perfectly in both.
The only complaint I have really about the product is the colour, it is only available in black, I would have loved to have had some brightly coloured version or even a pink one as I think it would look great.
We have had the car tidy for a couple of years now and although Lauren is older now, I still like to fill it with soft toys, books etc so keep her entertained, especially if we are going on long journeys.
Overall, I would recommend this car tidy, although it is not the best looking product in the world; it has proved really handy, managed to keep the car tidy and if I fill the compartments up with different toys etc, keeps Lauren entertained in the back of the car so I would therefore give the product 4 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
