My pushchair came with a rain cover that covered the pushchair and car seat together when being used as a travel system which was ideal for when I took the car seat out the car and put it on the pushchair but for a quick trip into our corner shop or for going from the car to the play ground at school to pick my other daughters up I didnt want the haste of having to use it as a travel system so started looking for a rain cover to use with just the car seat. Whilst browsing online I couldnt believe how expensive some of these were for what is little more than a plastic sheet and having used clippersafe products before decided on this one as it was one of the cheapest I could find and as it was only going to have occasional use didnt want to waste money so got this for a few pennys short or six pounds from amazon. When I first took it out the box I wasnt very impressed with the quality of the plastic used as it was the chap rustley stuff like carrier bags are made from so straight away disliked it and didnt think it would last very long, with it being universal I didnt expect a perfect fit as all car seats differ slightly but wasnt impressed with how loose of a fit it was as it just sits over the car seat with no elastic or anything to keep it in place and as you know with the great British weather when we get rain we get wind so every time there was a gust of wind the cover blew up off the car seat and had to be pulled back down, this to me seems like something that could have easily been stopped for a few extra pence when making it. Sadly after using this cover on only a hand full of times the plastic also started to come away from the stitching so was after all a total waste of money, if you are looking for a cover for your car seat invest a few extra pounds and get a decent one as you will be bitterly disapointed with this one as I was.
I had to buy car seat rain covers for my newborn babies as they were born in winter plus it rains a lot in scotland. I wanted to cover to keep out the cold for the first few moths also. I had the maxi cosi car seats for both girls and for their own make of rain cover was going to cost £25.00 each so i opted for a universal cover that cost less. I bought the clippasafe car seat rain covers from ebay brand new for £8.99 each felt this was a good price compared to the maxi - cosi cost. The clippasafe car seat covers being universal will fit cost baby car seats the first stage ones. Clippasafe rain cover is made from thin clear plastic like the pushchair covers with white ribbon trim around the seams. The clippasafe rain cover comes with instructions they are simple to read with picture diagrams but not needed as it is so simple to fit on the seat. As the rain cover is unfolded there is a noticeable gap slit with a flat, this part goes over the carry handle of the car seat, the flap them covers the gap under the handle like a little lid to cover the gap where the handle goes through. There are no clips to fasten the seat cover should be pulled down and around the car seat bottom until all straight. The air can still circulate under the cover but keeps the wet rain out and in winter the cold. The clippasafe car seat rain covers only take a few minutes to put on the seat. The rain covers are light and fold up taking up no room at all, they could even be folded and left in the car in case you need them unexpectedly as the weather can be unpredictable. Clippasafe car seat rain covers are cheap, easy to install, durable and for me a little life saver. Our seat covers actually lasted us until the girls were five months old, it got us by the harsh winter until spring come around again. My daughters never had the cold or got ill witch was my main concern as i did not want them to get wet and seemed so harsh to take newborn babies out in the rain and snow here these worked for us and much cheaper than i wanted so i am really happy with the clippasafe car seat covers. I highly recommend the clippasafe universal rain covers.
I hated the fact that if it was raining I didn't have a proper cover to fit my daughter's car seat. I always used to pull the raincover off of the pram and wrap it over the car seat and run her in but I didn't overly like doing this as it didn't feel right. Down the road from us was a little baby shop which sold practically everything. So I popped in there one afternoon to enquire about a car seat rain cover. I was presented with this Clippasafe one which was a universal. I was assured it would fit the carseat so I purchased it for £4.99 which I thought was pretty reasonable. It was made out of the same material as all rain covers are but it had white piping along the seams. I made sure I was fully prepared the next time we went out and just in case it rained whilst my daughter was in her car seat. Sure enough, it did so out came the rain cover. With my daughter still in her car seat, sound asleep and completely oblivious as to what I was doing, I started fitting the rain cover on. It was pretty simple. There is a gap in the top of the raincover which you slide over the carry handle so that you are able to hold it. There is then another flap which comes over you hand whilst you are holding the car seat to cover any of the hole which is still showing to prevent rain getting in. Once the car seat rain cover is in place over the top, it is just a case of pulling it all straight at the bottom so that it hangs over the car seat properly with none of the seat showing. I found that this car seat cover was of a really good quality and it worked a treat. It covered my daughter over every inch whilst she was in her car seat and she never got wet. I also like the way the bottom wasn't elasticated so there was plenty of air circulating to her. The cover fitted my daughter's car seat perfectly too. She had a Graco one so I am certain it would fit any car seat. Highly recommended for your child when they are in a car seat and the rain is pelting or just spitting.
We were given one of these as a present before our son was born and having used it today for the first time, wanted to review it. It was, quite simply, brilliant. I used it because I had to be at an appointment and couldn't wait for the shower to clear & the car was parked a little way away. I put my son into his car seat in the usual way and simply popped the raincover over the top - it took seconds to fit. There's a handy hole in the top so that you can hold the handle of the car seat securely, without worrying about it slipping. If that sounds like the rain will get in, there is a flap of plastic which covers your hand and means that the rain doesn't go through this gap. When I got my son to the car, it was just as easy to remove & store so I could pop it in the boot for use at the other end of my journey. I don't know about other makes, but it fitted my Silver Cross car seat very well. I have seen other similar products with elasticated bottoms, but this one is better as it leaves plenty of room at the bottom for air to circulate. Overall, you might not use it very often, but it will be invaluable when you do.
