There are several different positions for the recliner but the differences are quite subtle - we just go from max seated to max lying down. Lastly, (and most importantly for us since she is often car sick) it is very easy to pull the covers off and put them in the wash.

When our daughter was 3 she outgrew her previous car seat and we looked around for a replacement. She tends to fall asleep on long journeys so a booster seat was never really an option as it did not support her head. A decent child car seat was proving to be expensive but we eventually bought this reclining car seat second hand for £15. There were a few things that immediately appealed (other than the price). Firstly the car seat is quite large and had plenty of room for her to grow. The recommended maximum age is 5 and I would say this is about right.
