      a great 3 in 1 seat

After all the car seats we've been through it says a lot when I say this is one of my favourites!

      Brand: Graco
Graco do a number of products such as car seats, pushchairs, walkers, baby swings, cots, high chairs and more. I have had a number of products buy Graco over the years and always found them reasonably priced a quality products. Graco products are easily found in leading retailer shops and online.

      Nautilus:
Although my son is still in the age group for his car seat it didn't seem to fit him very well anymore. The seat belts weren't sitting properly and he was always trying to get out of it. I saw the Nautilus before and thought it was very cool looking so I went into Halfords to see if I still liked it and how much it was. The seat is for children aged 9 months to 12 years (9-36kg). As his old seat would only have been ok for another year makes me wonder why I didn't buy him a seat like this before! It fits most cars and because of the shape it gives my son more foot room.

      Fitting:
Obviously the seat like all others is made so that it can be on either side of the back seat. We bought the only one in stock. Halfords charged us £89 instead of the £99 advertised as it was unboxed and off the shop floor which was nice of them. My husband put the seat in and after a minute of watching him struggle I realised he was trying to put the seat belt threw the wrong bit. Once I noticed this the seat went in easily.

There is a recline feature that only goes back a tiny bit but as my son doesn't often fall asleep in the car it doesn't matter. He has slept in the car recently and I noticed his head bobbing around a little. The recline feature is written up in the instruction booklet as being direct access and although I can indeed reach it quickly at a stop-light I can't do anything with it. To recline the seat I had to pull over, get out and do it using both hands and a foot.

The headrest can be adjusted as the child grows and then when they move on even more the backrest comes off to give you a booster seat.

The seat belt release is very convenient. There is a button to unlock the seat belt and a tab to lift when you just want to loosen it. Very good for when I've pulled the belt too tight and just need to make a quick alteration.

      Favourite bits:
Large cup holder for drinks and cookies which is very easy to clean. Under both armrests are little storage areas that my son fills with small toys.

      Cleaning:
As some of you may know my son gets car sick and I have had to deal with my fair share of cleaning in the 3 years he's been here. Well we had an incident the other week (a bad one) and I had to bring the seat into the house for a hose down. As the seat comes apart there are a few separate covers. Thankfully only one was in need of cleaning. I took it off rather easily and popped it into the washing machine. I took the seat outside and started wiping down and disinfecting the seat belt. Sick had gotten into the bottom bit of the seat belt but after a minute or two of moving it around I managed to get it all. The seat cover took ages to dry and I ended up turning the heating on to give it that final push so I could get the seat back into the car. I used the old seat whilst this one was drying.

This seat received a Practical Parenting & Pregnancy car seat multi-stage gold award 2011/2012

Jan 2013 update: the seat has a few more stains on it from me allowing the kids to eat in my car (whoops) but it is still a fab seat that I recommend :)
