Advantages: Easy to install and use

Disadvantages: Price

We had decided on the Maxi Cosi CabrioFix car seat because we wanted one that was compatible with an isoFix base. CabrioFix is suitable for babies up to 13kg Group 0+. We then had to choose between the FamilyFix or EasyFix base. FamilyFix also takes the next size up carseat but is more expensive, as we weren't sure which car seat we would want to move onto after the CabrioFix we decided on the EasyFix.

What is the EasyFix base?
It is a black solid plastic base which you fix in your car using either your car's seatbelt or it's Isofix points if it has them. Our car has Isofix and it is really easy to clip the anchor points in place at the back of your car seat. Once attached it stays in your car ready for whenever you go out. It is worth noting that this base is only compatible with the CabrioFix car seat and not any other car seat in the Maxi Cosi range.

How does it work with the CabrioFix car seat?
When you want to go out you carry baby to the car in the car seat and click it into the base. The seat has 4 points of attachment to the base, one in each corner. You hear it click in place and there are indicator windows on either side of the base that change from red to green when the seat is correctly attached. I like these simple indicator window as they give you peace of mind that baby is in properly. Being able to quickly click the car seat in place saves so much time and with twins anything that saves me time is great!
It is also really easy to get the car seat out of the base, there is a silver handle at the front of the base where it meets with the seat that you pull out to release the seat. I found I had to wriggle the handle the first few times to get the seat to release but soon got the hang of it.
The base has an additional floor support that easily pushes into place, this also has indicators that turn green from red when they are in the correct position. It provides an extra safety feature that you only get with these type of bases.
The combination of the EasyFix base with the Cabriofix car seat are quoted as being 'best on test' for safety. This was another great selling point for us.

Price and availability
We paid £101 for ours a couple of years ago and that was in the sale, but they have come down in price to £95 now. We bought ours from Halfords but they are widely available from sellers of car seats. As you also have to buy the CabrioFix car seat you are looking at a package cost of approx £200 for this option.

Would I recommend?
I have been really pleased with how easy these bases have been to use, they have been well worth the cost and I would recommend.

Summary: Quick, safe and easy option for your car seat.
