This is the second car seat I've purchased for my baby since having her. My friend recommended that I go to Halfords as she had previously brought a car seat from there and was very happy with her purchase and the customer service she received. The man I spoke to and dealt with in Halfords that helped me chose this one said that it was a group 1 Car seat which meant it was for suitable for baby's from 9 months up until the age of 4 which was perfect for what I needed, I was and still am 100% happy with my purchase and would recommend it to any mums out there, that may be stuck for choice.
The guy, who dealt with us in Halfords, showed us two car seats he thought would be ideal for what we needed. He showed us two versions of the priori car seat one was the XP and the other was the SPS. We already knew before visiting Halfords via word of mouth that they were notorious for doing excellent car seat fittings, so when the bloke offered to try them out in our car for us, I was more than happy to let him. Upon testing them both out in our car (A Vauxhall Vectra) we found that it was only the XP that would fit in our car. This didn't bother us too much though as the only difference between the two car seats was that the SPS car seat had side protection which we were happy to go without but I suppose it all comes down to personal preference ( as some may want it).
Once we knew which one fitted the guy from Halfords then went on to give us a guided demonstration of how to fit it ourselves. The first thing he said to do upon fitting the car seat was to pull the seat into full reclining position. He showed us how to do this simply using a lever that is placed under the seat. Once the seat has then been put into the full recline position you the lever, there is then a small grey lever at the bottom which says 'push' below it. You push this in and the seatbelt clamp draws backwards. You then slide the cars seatbelt between the seat unit and the back frame of the car seat. You can then clamp it in place by sliding back that lever and using one of the red clips to clasp the upper part of the belt in place. If you then find you wish to adjust the straps on the car seat then this is just as easy if not easier than fitting the car seat lol. In the middle of the seat unit you'll find a tensioner, you simply push this in and tug gently on the straps. Depending on how tightly you want it you can just keep tugging lightly on the excess strap until you get the tightness you want, however the guy did advise that its best to make sure you leave no more than finger room under the straps as this could enable the child to be able to free themselves from the car seat. You can also adjust the height of the harness straps to suit your child's needs, simply by lifting the Velcro panel and following the belt through the guide to the next level up.
Whilst receiving the demonstration, I straight away loved the design of the car seat it comes in a variety of different colours such as red, blacks, greys and many more. The seat is really padded and looks sleek and sporty. The car seat itself has a 4 position recline however my little-in looks the most comfortable when it's placed in the fully laid back position :) which is around a 45 degree angle. The car seat also has a five point safety harness, which is well padded over the shoulders which adds to my little-ins comfort. One of the best features about the car seat which I found was that the seat cover can be easily removed and washed which is definitely needed with a messy child like mine lol.
The one negative thing I will say however about this car seat is that I did find it to be a little on the heavy side as it weighs 9kg, so a lot of the time i found I had to get my partner to take it in and out of the car when we needed too. However the weight of the car seat is simply a reflection the solid construction of the car seat.
Overall this is a quality item, and I have personally found it to be excellent. It is a little on the expensive side priced at £119 from Halfords. But it is definitely worth while and my little-in loves it. Since purchasing it I have recommended this car seat to a lot of my friends who have kids and those who have also purchased it, have also been entirely happy with it :). So I would definitely recommend it.
