Advantages: good fit, versatile

Disadvantages: can't think of any

When my son was about 8 or 9 months old, and his legs were dangling off the end of his carry-tot, I decided it was time to buy a "proper" car seat.

I looked around and this was one of the seats I like best (well, it DID match the upholstery in the car, you know!) - but as a single mum, I had to consider the price factor, and initially chose a cheaper seat.

I have to admit that I wasn't happy with the fit of the first one I bought, so I went to a local outlet, which I knew had staff that were trained in fitting different brands.

The nice young gentlemen (I must be gettin' old, saying something like that!) did not criticise the seat I had bought, but did comment that he didn't think it fitted into my car properly. Which is what I felt too.

Patiently, he tried many different seats, and was fairly happy with some - but you could tell he wasn't over-enamoured. After telling me that the Maxi-Cosi Priori was one of the seats that fits most cars, he tried it and was, I can only say overjoyed! at the fit.

Suffice to say, I spent the money - so what if it wasn't the cheapest seat? It was cheaper than buying another car that would accept different seats!!

I had it fitted in the centre, with the lap belt. Very tight, rock solid, no movement. (I also felt the middle was the best, safer from side impact)

Whilst the best position in my car (Honda Concerto) was the middle, with the lap belt, it was still secure with the lap and diagonal, and VERY easy to move to other cars using the three point.

I felt my son was very safe in the seat, and was very sad when I had to change it to a bigger one.

Things I thought made this an outstanding seat?

The fit
The little pocket at the back of the seat which means you keep the instruction booklet with the seat at all times!
The little hooks to hold the straps out of the way when sitting baby in the seat.
The hei
ght, the recline, and the one pull harness.

****

What I would make a point of saying is that although it is aimed at 1-4 years, the crucial point is actually your child's weight - once they reach 18kg, I child should no longer be in a five-point harness -

My son still fit comfortably in the seat, and I wish he was still in the middle (they get a good view that way!), but his weight meant that I had to change the seat.

Oh, and make sure you buy your seat from place where they have trained fitters - it might not be the cheapest place for your chosen seat, but its well worth it to know that the seat is fitted correctly - a poorly fitting seat is almost as bad as non at all.

Sounds like a nice seat, I like the idea of the pocket to keep the instructions handy (instruction books get lost in our house), nice review by the way, cheers Chele X

P.S I would have read this earlier, only for some strange reason it didn't appear in the latests ops for the kids&family category, how strange!
