Advantages: Great item, easy to install and adjust

Disadvantages: Poor manufacturing, Manufacturers attitutude to any problems

We chose the latest XP range of this car seat which although more expensive did offer an additional seat belt tensioner to hold the seat securely in place and added side impact protection. Everything has been fine for three weeks until the polestirene side became unstuck causing the whole side to flop about looking very unsafe. We did contact the retailer who asked us to come in and they would swap replace the seat and swap the fabric cover over to the new one. We had a problem in so much that we did not buy this locally and will have to travel into London to arrange the replacement. In the meantime we had to use the seat as is and wanted confirmation that it was not unsafe.
Contacting Maxi Cosi 'customer service' we were told that this is not an uncommon problem and it is not unsafe. When I asked if they could put that in writing they refused because they needed to see the seat first. This did not make sense to me. How can they confirm it is not unsafe when they need to see it first! On pushing them on this I was left with them practically putting the phone down on me.

We really liked our purchase initially. Now we have doubts about it's durability over the next three years and cannot recommend the manufacturer to anyone. Such a terrible attitude to my little daughters safety.
