Advantages: good recline mechanism, well padded and comfy, fits securely in my car
Disadvantages: not at all durable, bad company customer service
After looking around at all the different car seats on the market for my 10 month old daughter, i decided the priori XP had the features i wanted. It fits very well and securely in my car, has a really easy to use recline mechanism, is well padded and seems comfortable for my baby, and also i liked the way the sides seem to come out more than other seats, to help protect her in an impact. (Side Impact Protection System) The seat was one of the more expensive on the market so i thought i would be buying something well made and durable. However, after a week of using this seat and being very happy with it, I noticed that something on one side seemed loose, so i took off the cover to have a look and found that the polystyrene bit inside had come away from the main seat and was flapping around. I went straight to the shop where i bought the seat and they told me i was the third person that week with the same problem and was basically told it was my fault for leaning on the side of the seat when putting my baby in the car. To be honest if it cant stand up to that for one week im not sure how long the car seat would last with a rough toddler climbing in and out of it! My retailer told me i should just glue the piece of polystyrene down and to come back if it actually breaks as this would not be safe. I am not altogether happy with this as im sure any other parent would understand and have conacted the manufacturer who seemed quite offhand with me and said if it wasnt safe it wouldnt be on the market and again told me to just glue it back together! I cant understand why i should have to make bodge repairs to a product that is only a week old, and is supposed to be protecting my child in the event of an accident! I have tried to stick the thing back together but have found it wont stay stuck so am going to go back to the shop and hopefully get a refund as i dont trust this seat at all now. We shall see what happens... meanwhile my baby will have to go back in
her group 0+ car seat for the time being and i remain £108 out of pocket with no new seat!

- 08/08/03 well, after speaking to the local authorities road safety expert about my problem, he told me that this is in no way satisfactory. i also spoke to trading standards and they fully backed up what i thought... so in a very girly wimpish way i got my partner to ring the retailer and after a lot of umming and ahhing and the mention of trading standards he finally agreed to a refund (not a replacement) So now im back to square one looking for a new seat. this is obviously a design fault and im speaking to trading standards about it, as i know the guy in the shop sent at least 2 other people away to "fix" their seats! |

- 05/08/03 Welcome to dooyoo and as Mauri said. What do your local trading standards office say? Writing to "Watchdog" and sending a copy of my letter to the appropriate person has had instant results for me. :-) |
