Faulty manufacturing of the plastic seat base has made our 2 Recaro Start seats fail after only 30 months. (They were meant for our children until they were 12 )Recaro will not supply spare bases for these and refuse to acknowledge there is a problem. They also refuse to inspect the seats even after I sent photographs of the broken seat bases.Leave them alone they may fail as mine did when your child is in them.(The seats have never been dropped or been in any accident.)Beware!!! 30 months use cost £400.00 (£200 each)

This was a gift from a friend as we needed as second seat to save keep swapping the seats around between our two cars. The seat is great and my boy seems to love it almost as much as he loves the drivers seat. The Recaro start seat is very cool and sporty looking and looks good in the back seat. Recaro do recommend that the seat is suitable for use from approx the age of nine months. However I would advise to go by the recommended weight rather as the age as all children are different sizes.
