      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A worthwhile investment especially if you have already got the iso fix

My little boy is growing up fast and we were worried it was outgrowing his baby Group 0+ Recarro car seat so decide to buy the next stage up as we do a lot of driving and want him to comfortable and safe.

The Young Expert Plus is front facing so both my husband and I enjoy being able to see more of the little one when driving and he certainly loves his new view of the world. There is a higher degree of risk with front facing as opposed to rear facing but a larger rear facing car seat would take up a lot more room and having a tall husband means that this was not the best option for us.

The car seat fits easily onto the iso fix base although I should warn you it weighs a lot more than the baby Group 0+ one. I wouldn't want to have to move it a lot to different cars. When it was delivered I did carry up a flight on stairs but this isn't something I would want to do often and certainly not with the little man in it. I have flown with the little one and taken the pushchair and baby car seat with me but I don't think I would really want to do that with this car seat especially flying solo. To be fair I have looked at other larger car seats and I think they would all have this issue. My tip here is check at your destination to see if you can hire a car seat. When I was in Edinburgh recently I didn't plan to travel by car at all but ended up having to go to Fife and found I could hire a car seat for a couple of days which was useful to know.

We had already purchase the iso fix with the baby car seat but I would recommend it for this car seat as well as it makes life so much easier as it just clicks into place. If you do have to move it to a car without an iso fix the car seat has little red arrow tags clearly indicating where the seat belt should be thread which is a good design feature as you may not always have the instruction booklet with you.

The car seat is a Group 1 type so it suitable for babies/toddlers weighing 9 to 18 kg or 20 to 40 lbs. It comes in a variety of colours and more importantly these can be removed to be cleaned which is an essential when travelling with children. In a complete disaster situation you can buy replacement covers. My tip here is not to give your teething baby a biscotti biscuit to eat as it does give them something to chew on but the resulting mess is pretty hard to deal with.
My little boy is very comfortable in the car seat as it is nicely padded and once he is older the baby padding inserts can be removed so the car seat should last him for quite a while. There is a three-stage height adjustment so the car seat will grow with him.
It is easy to put the harness on him at the moment although this may be more challenging once he hits the terrible twos. The harness feels very secure and is easy to tightening by pulling the strap at the base of the car seat. There are padded harness covers at shoulder which make it more comfortable for your child.

Seat can be reclined which makes journeys more comfortable for the whole family as driving when the little one is asleep is a good thing. It is also very simple to recline as you just have a lever in the front of the seat to pull forward. The only downside is that if my tall husband is sitting in front of the car seat it does feel a bit tight on space. My baby has slept well in it so far although we have not done any great long distances in it yet.

The car seat costs between £165 to £125 online so it is worthwhile shopping around to get the best deal particularly if you aren't too concerned about your colour choice.

I purchased mine through Amazon which had a very quick delivery but arrived with no instruction booklet.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase as is the little man. The car seat is well designed and feels very safe. The foam padding is comfortable and this car seat feels as if it will grow well with the little man and I feel the price to be worth the feeling of security I have in using it.

Complete confidence in this car seat - very safe and secure

We bought this Recaro child seat for our daughter and we are very, very happy with this product.

This is a significant and sturdy child seat, which when locked in place with Isofix is a very secure seat. The seat is very easy to fit, along with the base, with picture instructions on the base. I understand that the seat can be secured by Isofix and by seat belt, however I have only used the Isofix option.

I think that I paid £180 ish pounds for the seat, which I would say is worth every penny, knowing that your child is safe and secure. I question those that purchase cheap and flimsy £25 car seats from supermarkets, which appear far to simple in construction. The recaro Young Expert Plus appeared to be the most secure and substantial seat - and believe me, I did the research!

My daughter loves this car seat - it is comfortable, with suitable padding, she likes the arm rests, padded straps and I love the option of being able to move the seat base in or out, allowing her to recline more. She sleeps regularly in the car seat and is at a comfortable angle, meaning she doesn't flop her head forward and look uncomfortable. The fabric is excellent - it is durable, and although velour/suede type, it appears to wipe clean very well.

This is a Group 1 car seat suitable for weight between 9-18 kg. My daughter, although only 2yrs, is nearly 1 metre in height, but still has plenty of room in the seat.

Unfortunately my daughter is sick frequently and this lovely car seat has been covered in sick on so many occasions. Rest assured that you can take the car seat apart, remove all the fabric parts and wash them down and air dry them. This has not effected the look or durability of the fabric in anyway. I would suggest on the first occasion that you do a diagram, so that putting it back is easy!

My daughter can unfortunately undo the three point harness. However, this is not a negative point or weakness in the product, I just appear to have a Houdini daughter with strong thumbs for a two year old! (she can undo other style car seats as well). The three point harness is easily adjustable and simple to clip together.

My only negative (ish) point is that the car seat and base are extremely heavy to carry. However, in my opinion, this proves that it is a sturdy product - you just don't want to be moving it around from car to car, too often!

Extremely pleased with this product and have confidence in the safety and security it has to offer.
