      Sunshine kids dry seat

My little girl is in the middle of potty training. She is two years and eight months old and I am very proud of how well she has done so far. To be honest I wasn't really ready to start training her yet, it was she who decided that she was ready. A few of her friends were already just about trained and I think she looked at them and heard the stories that the other mummies were telling and decided she wanted to do it too. Once she had decided that she wasn't going to wear nappies anymore than was it, she hasn't worn them since, except for bedtime which is something we're going to tackle in a few weeks once she has perfected dry days. We went out and bought some cute little girl knickers and she has been wearing them ever since. Now, I am not an expert about potty training, I really wanted to read some books before we started but one of the things I am quite sure about is that I do not want to take any steps backwards and by this I mean putting a nappy on her when she is facing long stretches without a possible toilet break. I think that would give her confusing messages and stop her from really understanding when to hold it and when you cannot go.

One of the instances in which she would face a long stretch is in the car on long journeys. We take long trips, over two and a half hours to the Grandparents and when we did it a few weeks ago we faced a dilemma, do we put her in a nappy and face putting her backwards or do we risk just knickers and possibly a wet car seat and wet child when we get to the other end. We did a bit of research on the internet and found this really good seat protector and thought this was a good way of protecting our car and my little girls car seat from possible accidents.

Some friends had said to us just put an old towel down on her seat but I think this would show her that we didn't have confidence in her and also would probably be a bit uncomfortable. This seat protector looks just like a proper addition to the seat, as if you were to put on a bit of a booster or something so it blends in well with the seat and I don't think my daughter really realises what its primary purpose is.

The seat protector fits in the lap of the car seat and then has short sides to it and also a short back to it. What I like about it is that there's a whole in the middle so you can fit the seat belt clip through the middle and then you don't have to worry about not being able to belt in your child. I found installing this seat was easy and it was really easy to pull the car seat clip through and it doesn't slip back through which is nice.

The seat protector actually looks really comfortable and is made of a nice soft plush material. Its not overly thick so I can't actually see where the absorption power is, maybe its just in the fabric itself as they say that this is a waterproof cushion. Now, the nice thing is, well for us anyway that I can't actually comment on the waterproofness of this seat as so far so good. My little girl has not once wet herself in the car, even on a terrible two and a half hour journey on the M25 that we had recently. I think she is getting the hang of this potty training lark and really knowing how and when to hold it so luckily for us we have not and to clean this seat protector yet. If we do its really good to know that this protector is actually machine washable and I would probably not tumble dry it, I would just leave it out to dry naturally and then pop it back in the car.

I think this seat protector gives us really good piece of mind that we can keep a clean car and keep our little girl happy and proud of herself that she is growing up to be a really good girl. The protector cost us less than £10 on the internet and is a worthy investment if you are going through the potty training stage.
