To be honest this is quite a basic toy and I did wince a bit when I made my mum and dad buy it for my little girl for her birthday recently as I wasn't sure she would get that much out of it but I am glad in the end we got it. I did think £13 was a bit steep for a drum like this and a bit expensive as Early Learning Centre toys go actually but it is well made and a solid, durable toy drum so I guess the price is justified.
The drum is bright and colourful and quite eye-catching. It is green not he top around the rim of the drum portion and then it has a red and yellow diamond pattern around the drum. It has a good look to it I think, a very authentic drum look and as if it should be in a proper marching band with all the colours. The drum also has attachments on it that are just staid but look like the ones on a real drum that you can use to tighten the tension and get a firm drumming surface.
The drum surface then is that tight plastic that will vibrate when hit with the drumsticks. This gives quite a plastic noise in my opinion but it is still quite a good strong drum noise and definitely ones kids will like. I decided to get my little girl a drums as she loved to drum on things and even used an un-open tin of Quality Street she found at her Grandparents house as a drum so I thought she would like this. Plus, she likes to listen to and make music so if this sparks her interest in music a bit more then all the better.
The drum comes with two yellow drum sticks which are plastic but make a nice noise when you bash them on the drum. As they are plastic they will not do much damage if they are used to drum on anything else. The drum has a string attached to it which allows your little one to put the drum over their head and hold it in front of them and to use it like they were in a marching band which my little girl thinks is hilarious.
All in all, a nice basic plastic instrument that will hopefully bring music to your house.
