Advantages: They are bright colourful, engaging, appealing and cheap!

Disadvantages: the colourings!

For Christmas I bought my 2year old twins alot of puzzles, I figured they are surprisingly fun, educational and we can play them together too.

I browsed on amazon and came across the Galt selection of Baby puzzles. There are a few 'topics' should I say to choose from but each continuing the two piece puzzle theme. I bought the farm, transport and pets puzzles but you can also buy jungle to. The transport puzzles include what's pictured above, the farm puzzles include a horse, sheep, goat, cow, pig and chicken and last but not least (from what I purchased) the pets puzzles contain a fish, turtle, dog, cat, mouse and a rabbit.

The puzzles come in brightly coloured, appealing boxes with a handle at the top so it acts as a carrycase for the puzzle. Depending on the theme of the puzzle you have pictures of what the puzzles are on the front of the box to, for instance the farm puzzles have a picture of a chicken, pig, cow etc. The box clearly states that the puzzles are a Galt product and that they are suitable for children aged 18 months plus, the front of the box also informs us that it contains 6 two piece puzzles.

The puzzles are extremely simple, but I wanted to buy them as my twins were only just beginning to recognise certain animals and vehicles so I thought these would be an engaging way to help them learn more about the animals and figure the puzzles out themselves.

The puzzles are flat, board but very chunky and brightly coloured. Due to the size each half can be easily identified by children, if they do have a little trouble to begin with though you can show them the box and they can almost 'copy' the pictures of the puzzles from there. Each puzzle is approximately 12cm x 15cm.

So far they have been a great hit with my twins, they find it very rewarding when they match the puzzles together and love the praise they receive when they do so. They now enjoy animals, and vehicles so the fact the puzzles are something they like is a bonus to. Each box of 6 puzzles cost me just £4 on amazon and they have been brilliant. They help with matching skills and hand eye co-ordination as well as being just 'simple' fun. Each puzzle piece is brightly coloured and very eyecatching although it could be a little confusing as the colours are not very realistic, for example your child would have to match up a green chicken and a red horse. So if you would be worried about your child becoming a bit confused about colourings of the animals then these wouldn't be such a good educational toy.

So far matching the pieces up my boys have found great fun but when it comes to fitting the pieces together, well that's another review lol! I'm sure in time they will get the patience and learn how to fit them together properly, they are not overly difficult as it's just two puzzle pieces but if they don't just slot into place straightaway the twins tantrum, but that happens often anyway! For the price these are brilliant and thanks to their boxes they can be stored away tidy after use to so no trouble in losing any pieces. The pieces can be bent and broken as they are only like a cardboard and the surfaces are shiny and smooth but no sharp edges really or anything that can seriously hurt your child. I'd definitely reccomend them to anybody with young children or even as gifts!

Summary: A good puzzle for fun, matching skills.
